Habit beats free will every time. Habit does not reside in the areas of the brain accessed by conscious thought. That’s the issue here.

No, that's the excuse for weak-willed cowards to do whatever they want, shirk responsibiilty and lay the blame elsewhere. Oscar Pitorius comes to mind.

He is 73, has posted a $150k bond, is wearing an ankle bracelet and is only allowed to go to church and his doctor’s. Pretty common practice in American jurisprudence for people who are no flight risk.

But he has unlimited access to cyberspace, visitors and unobserved conversations now.

I can see by your conclusion you are lacking in analytical skill.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

So what? He’s being monitored and any violation of the conditions of his release will land him back in jail. You think the internet isn’t available in jails and prisons? Are you Rip Van Winkle?

“You don’t get to claim fear for your life, after reinserting yourself into harms way.”

Absolutely correct.

I remember a time, years ago, hubby had some weird, typical NYC confrontation with some nut on the subway. Hubby is a big guy and sometimes he is not so aware of his girth, plus he was carrying some big duffel bag or something. In all likelihood he did bump the guy or step on his foot or something.

So, of course the guy started threatening him: I’m going to eff you up, etc. He even pulled a knife out!

Anyway, almost immediately the train comes to a station and the angry fellow got off. Hey, it was his stop, you know?

Hubby tells this story to his sister and she says: I’m surprised you let him get away with that!

And hubby says: a crazy man wanted to stab me, but didn’t, and you want me to run after him and give him another chance?

She was like....oh yeah....

Are you seriously claiming there is no difference in the filters, hours and conditions of access between prison and a private home?

I’m seriously saying you’re a drama queen for worrying about what is a normal practice of the law. If he tries any of the things you’re concerned about he’ll be back in jail in a flash and the hole he’s in will be deeper.

"...I posted where the perp knocked his popcorn out of his lap, which I would interpret as an overagressive act. But that’s just me."

It might be overaggressive, but is it a deadly threat?

In this case, the armed person, the shooter, was NOT polite. He was insane and I hope they put the old bastard away for the rest of his life and I hope he lives a long long time.

If you're right, we are rid of two bad guys.

The guy who got shot learned a widely understood lesson too late;

Don't pick a fight with old guys, they're to old, too tired to fight, they'll just shoot you.

Putting up a sign announcing a policy does not guarantee people will follow the policy. That is the lesson for the owner. Just as the texter also did not follow then rules.

The lesson for the texter is follow the rules when informed and don’t grab someone’s food and throw it at them.

Those are the lessons.

At 71 years old? Yeah. At 24? Let the Good times roll. Against the 43 year old, who would be screaming about how he was attacked.

I think you are confused about who picked the fight in the first place.

I wonder how many people the old bastard shot while he was a cop? (and got away with it) I’ll bet he won’t get away with it this time. He wouldn’t if I was on the jury.

I saw an old guy go completely berserk in a movie theatre when someones phone rang once. The nutcase was in the front of the theatre, the phone ring came from the back of the theatre and I was in between them. I got up and moved. The phone rang one more time and the nutcase started climbing over the seats. His wife made him get down. He was so far away from the ring I am surprised he could even hear it. It didn’t bother me and I was closer. Some people are just looking for an excuse to go nuts on someone.

First strike from the enraged perp. What might be expected next? Oh, gee! not popcorn, a fist to my 71 year old head.

Putting up a sign announcing a policy does not guarantee people will follow the policy.

especially if your name is Curtis Reeves and you are a retired cop who believes himself to be above the law and not bound by a posted notice that the rest of the unarmed peons in the theatre must adhere to.

I really can’t muster up any outrage over the old fart making bail and being released to house arrest. It’s legal and accords with the constitutional rights of the accused.

Good manners saves lives and it’s sad that neither man involved didn’t have better manners and their collective dumbassery contributed to making a child fatherless.

Did the texter deserve to be shot? No, but his own bad manners contributed heavily to his own demise, because you never no when a cantankerous old man is an armed contankerous old man.

It just a damn shame.
