There are reports on Twitter that Delta Flight 469 is due to make an emergency landing at Israel's Ben Gurion airport. Further reports say the plane has around 360 on board and that the plane has been burning off fuel flying in loops off Israel's coast over the Mediterranean Sea.
Over a dozen ambulances waiting for Delta plane to arrive at Ben Gurion Airport within minutes
bttt
Flight was bound for JFK in New York City.
Inquiring minds want to know:
Was this a Huma-Clinton-Obama-Petraeus MANPAD?
Landing gear problem?
Loops would not be the word I would use perhaps elongated circles I have been to air shows loops lmao
According to my twitter feed, it was some kind of mechanical malfunction..praying the plane lands safely, right now its burning fuel
Reports are that it is a mechanical issue (wheels?), not Gaza-related.
Loops would really settle the passengers...
LANDED SAFELY THANK GOD!

Seeing reports it has landed safely.
Emergency Landing at Ben Gurion Airport
Delta flight #469 with 362 passengers made an emergency landing at Ben Gurion airport at 2:30 AM on Sunday.
The plane, a Boeing 747 flying from Ben Gurion to JFK, declared the emergency shortly after takeoff, and circled over the ocean for over an hour before returning back to land in Israel.
The plane landed safely.

circling offshore implies they want to burn off fuel, they anticipate a bad landing and want to minimize risk of fire.
My guess is this means they have detected a mechanical problem onboard, one that might complicate a perfect landing.
I check out Twitter
In that case, one would think that they’d try for Europe - preferably France, since Air France is a partner, and Paris is their European hub.
Yes it would, flat in their seats.
This would be my luck! Heading back from a leisurely vacation and have mechanical malfunctions that would force the plane to land at Ben Gurion where Hamas is lobbing rockets and Israel is on the verge of war.
(I only make light of the situation because the plane is safely on the ground.)
We only take El Al to Israel..one way, no need to stop(This is from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv) its the only way my family flies to Israel..El Al flights have had mechanical issues in the past, it happens..Thank God the plane landed safely and everyone is OK..must have been a scary experience
is it that or to get the plane down to landing weight?
