Conservatives such as myself believe that the citizens of a society should have the sole voice in shaping that society. If the members of a society want to legalize pot, or same-sex marriage, or teaching creation in our public schools, then so be it. THAT is the Conservative position. Now compare that to the liberal position that pot should be legalized despite what the members of society say, or that same-sex marriage should be sanctioned by government despite the will of that government chosen by the people believe. And liberals believe that creation should be prohibited from being taught in school despite the will of the members of that society.
Freedom? If it weren't for Conservatives, we wouldn't have any freedom left. If you want to smoke dope, then smoke to your heart's content. But it will be the Conservative who will be fighting for the personal freedom of the business owner to hire and fire whoever he wants, while the liberal will be the one denying the business owner that freedom.
How dare you lecture me about personal freedom when you should be going after the people who are dictating their version of morality upon an unwilling populace - liberals. Next time you think about personal freedom, ask yourself who it is that made it illegal to purchase an insurance policy that does not cover birth control. Ask yourself who it is that sacrifices the freedom of equal protection by implementing racial quotas that abridge liberty for all. Ask yourself who it is that uses the power of a central government to force a cake maker to design cakes against his will. And ask yourself who it is that jails farmers who dare to sell raw milk to consumers who want to purchase that milk.
Personal freedom? Sorry Charlie. The current fascism which we now live under is not conducive with personal freedom.
