In the south metro of the Twin Cities, the Olive Garden restaurant are good.
I eat at one about every 4 months. The portions are good. You get the salad and breadsticks too. Even the service has been fine.
The stuffed chicken marsala is great, really great!
But yeah, if you’re gonna eat there on a Fri or Sat nite, expect at least a 45 minute wait.

As someone who grew up
in the NYC Metro area with tastebuds, I am repulsed by the thought of going to a chain Italian restaurant.
Fixed it for you.
We have a pretty nice little Italy here in Baltimore. But my fix would have likely been hte same regardless of what kind of chain restaurant we are talking about.

Pretty sure that our local olive garden salad gave us a nasty bout of food poisoning.
Overpriced carbohydrates and alcohol are a great way to make a profit. The restaurant decor does need updating as does the menu. But yes it will be hard to compete with quicker dining options.

What galls me is that Olive Garden opened up a place on 23rd and 7th Avenue - directly across from a nice little place called Restivo. Who would go into one in Manhattan??

Baltimore has good food. I enjoy visiting friends there and always like eating out.

I live in NC and we have many new restaurants in town, but Olive Garden is still my favorite place to eat. The “authentic” Italian restaurant at which I grew up eating was family-owned and the children did not want to work as hard as their parents had to keep it going. For many years, we did not even have a restaurant in town that served exclusively Italian food (except for pizza parlors)so I was thrilled when Olive Garden opened. Since ours is a military town, our local Olive Garden has not experienced a significant decline in business even with all the new places to choose from.
I think their food is great! From time to time, they will have a two meals for $25 special. You get a choice of all you can eat soup or salad for two, a choice of several delicious entrees, and one dessert to split. Last week, I went with my daughter and I got the shrimp mezzaluna and chicken gnocchi soup. It was to die for!

Reminds me of a local Hispanic restaurant with this sign on the outside of the restaurant:
7 unique flavors, 8 if you burp

Once you’ve had real Italian food you won’t ever go to OG anymore!

Do they still have small portions ? The last time I ate there was like 22 years ago Don't think so, but the prices have risen explosively. I don't eat there for that reason, as well as the company's leftist leanings.

There isn’t anything wrong with Olive Garden as long as you don’t expect anything too fancy. I’ve eaten there on several occasions and found the food what you’d expect for the price.
