Flashback: Corker, Alexander Help Immigration Bill Pass

Tennessee Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander were among supporters of an Immigration Bill that passed the Senate on Thursday, 68-32.

Senator Corker said, “This is the toughest border security measure to ever pass the Senate, and from economic, national security, deficit-reduction and moral standpoints, it’s the right thing to do.

Because of the amendment Senator Hoeven and I added to the bill, this legislation requires an additional 20,000 Border Patrol agents and at least 700 miles of fencing along the southern border, full implementation and activation of $4.5 billion in surveillance technology, an electronic visa entry/exit system, and a mandated E-Verify system for all employers. Passage of this bill gets us one step closer to securing our border in a dramatic way and to solving the immigration problem that we have struggled with for decades.”

Senator Alexander said, “It is the constitutional responsibility of Congress and the president to fix our broken immigration system. Senator Corker’s amendment dramatically strengthens border security. The bill ends de facto amnesty and creates a system of legal immigration. Now it goes to the House of Representatives to improve the legislation and finish the job.”

As a result of Senator Corker’s amendment, which Senator Alexander co-sponsored, the legislation would add 20,000 border patrol agents. That would double the number of agents on the southwest U.S. border, which would be enough to station one agent every 1,000 feet. The legislation would also require the construction of 700 miles of new or upgraded fencing and spend $3.2 billion on new security technology that was proven in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It would seem the Corker amendment effectively kills Amnesty in the House

Regarding the primary.....

I traveled Monday and yesterday across four heavily Republican Tennessee counties..... Sullivan, Hawkins, Grainger and Claiborne. I witnessed hundreds, perhaps thousands of campaign signs.

I did not observe a single sign for Lamar or his primary opponent the conservative Joe Carr. (I looked hard)

The message was, Carr either has no money or no supporters or has given up. Lamar is not spending money where there is no need.

If the conservative can’t carry these counties, he will not win the primary.

There has to be a way to design successful statewide campaign strategy blueprint for a primary challenger in a conservative state to unseat these D.C.-beholden moderate gentrified fossil incumbent Senators.

RE:Flashback: Corker, Alexander Help Immigration Bill Pass

I never really noticed Rubio till he started getting on TV lying about last years (2013) Senate amnesty bill trying to deceive Republicans in what was in it, and I am sure he succeeded with many (Republicans) .

I SPECIFICALLY recall Rubio saying on a Sunday show :
....and then Obama will have to decide if he will sign it or veto it”

as if that Durban/Schumer/Rubio/McCain/Gramnesty will would bother Obama in the least.

Obama would have been dancing at the golf range if he got to sign that bill.

Rubio must of learned how to weasel talk from Grahamnesty. Grahamnesty is a MASTER of weasel talk on Sunday talk shows, and it works for him.

I remember hearing Rubio’s nonsense when he was on Rush and all the other shows. He loved to use the line “what he have is de-facto amnesty,” a line that I sure was cooked up by Chuck Schumer, to counter the amnesty argument.

Rubio demonstrated that he’s as slimy as the rest of them.

I fear you are right. Had hopes that the Brat win in VA and the bit of national exposure Carr got from that would get him some traction.

He got a one liner of support from Palin when she was in Sevierville and I see occasional passing reference to the race in the alternate media.

But, his campaign seems to be in stealth mode. He’s vastly underfunded. So, I guess that is again the bottom line. That plus his inability to sell himself as viable.

Even his facebook and Twitter presence and following is small. He is harping on debating Lamar! That ain’t happening. Why doesn’t he set up a debate and have an empty chair represent Lamar!

I was disgusted to see in my travels that there is essentially no real Senate Primary race.

The various county offices are being hotly contested as measured by the sign count. There were no, 0, congressional or senate primary signs.

To me, that means a light turnout by predominately Republican voters interested in the local elections. Those are the Lamar GOP people.

Sure, Corker stopped Amnesty. No, he just “created” more federal jobs... not real jobs.. federal jobs. And “built” a fence that should already have been built, with more federal money.

Corker sponsored a bill to increase the federal gas tax—!! At a time when gas is highest ever, even when we are supplying our own crude to a large extent. Reason?— the “trust fund” for the highway system is going broke. Going broke at 18cents per each gallon of gas bought per DAY in the US. Any idea how much money that is (dollarized gas slush fund),and the trust fund that invests it is broke? Really?

Here goes: Corker and Alexander are both running interference for amnesty for the Chamber of Commerce o crats. Why? Because helping obamaumao et al will net them
first preference in obtaining the Tennessee Valley Authority for themselves and their cronies in TN, especially Chatt. Anyone talking about this in Chatt? No? No surprise.
TVA is on the block by the Feds. It is for sale— to the most grifting group that lines the dems pockets. And, the country be damned... bring on the illegals and the disease and all the rest of the “free” labor. Lying RINOs and Dems. Not an AMERICAN in any of them. Criminals.

I was following that too.
Freepers here who were supporting Bush amnesty back then called it ‘what we have now is Shamnesty’ (without a Bush amnesty reform)

Except :
1) Obama is not giving them US citizenship w voting like Rubio’s bill would.
2) Any of them could be deported at any time with a POTUS who wanted to, unlike if they got Rubio amnesty.

Why would any Republican give illegals the vote unless they want Democrats in power?

Alexander and Corker are so out of touch with reality they likely couldn’t fix a flat tire on a kids bicycle. Both seem to put their votes up not based on the wants and needs of “We The People” but rather how much power and money will this give me and my lobbyist I represent. Both are deep pockets Lobbyist puppets.
