Herd a REALLY interesting take on the MS shenanigans today from a young, educated, responsible man, born, bred and educated in MS.

I was saying Thad C was gettiing too old, had served too long and needed to give it up to younger man.

The response was--Thad is going to serve not more than 2 years, then resign. Haley Barbour gets appointed senator without having to run and has 4 years as incumbent before the next election.

Makes a lot of sense.

Also--most probably knoiwre he finished up as gov., and Barbour's PAC is big time supporting Cochran

That theory has been out there for sometime now. Except he’d have to run at either
the 2 or 4 yr mark for the remainder of the six yr term. My guess was he’d resign around
6 months in giving the appt 18 months until the next election date. Who knows what is
going to happen. There are going to be some court cases I’d guess.

Last para of post # 43--Brett Farr endorsed Cochran because Barbour pardoned Farr's brother as one of his last acts as gov. Barbour's PAC is big time supporting Cochran.

Barbour went on a huge pardoning spree just before leaving gov.'s office. Evidently, one of the pardoned has since murdered someone. That pretty much squashed a run for senate, as people are disgusted; but an appt. would bypass the publicity and 4 yrs is a long time to bury the facts.
