“Agree. Names should be inspiring, not depressing.”

In other news there was another senseless shooting last night in the USS Detroit’s Gunnery 2 section. Two seamen and an Ensign were killed. This makes the forth shooting this month. Crewmen have been requesting reassignment to the USS Suburbs.

Detroit has freer gun laws than our military bases which is one reason the crime rate in the city is in a free fall. The murder rate is down between 25 and 30 percent this year.

This class of ships "is a “one-size-fits all” weapons platform which, like the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, has a tendency to become “one-size-fits-none.” Having a single weapons platform perform multiple, radically distinct missions means the weapon will have to compromise its ability to do one job well in order to do multiple jobs poorly. This “Swiss Army knife” approach provides weapons that will be mediocre at a lot of things; and while mediocrity is not typically a mortal sin, it can be fatal in 21st century warfare.

I've been reading bad things about this class of ships for a few years now. She is a waste of money that will get her crew killed in combat.

The powers that be thinking is that the next war will be fought in the littorals (shallow water. No need for a true blue water navy. We have no more enemies with carriers and subs. We will only be fighting pirates in speed boats hence the use of only a 57mm auto cannon.
