I don’t believe that the invitations were sent via snail mail.
IMHO, they were hand delivered by courier.
Nonetheless no decent person would open an envelope addressed to somebody else.....blatantly peruse the contents and actually discuss it w/ others.
More egregiously, Lerner was a person in authority--- reading other people's mail.
