It’s a bad thing when Joe Bastardi’s fears are realized.

11 AM Hurricane Forecast Discussion (National Hurricane Center) show winds forecast to increase to 100 mph to 105 mph.

I guess with margin for error, it might be 110 mph by landfall or before landfall...

Grew up near Morehead City, NC....right where the coast runs east-west. Saw a few hurricanes there. Ancestors there since about 1720. My Dad saw the 1933 storm and Hazel in 1954. I remember seeing sea shells in an area in the dunes of what is now Emerald Isle, NC where Dad said the ocean met the sound during Hazel.

Looks like the NC coast and the turn of the Gulf Stream is going to spare Norfolk (where I live) again. Even so, I did my storm shopping....bought liquor and ammo.

If that’s an all wooden pier, I’d get a good look at it.

Whoa - how high was that storm surge? It took out all the dunes between the beach and the road.

The one good thing is that it is moving fast - 13mph. The worst time I ever had here in FL was with Jeanne because it moved at 1mph over top of us. 90 mph gusts just went on for hours and hours.
