McDaniel Unveils Another Strategy Against Thad Cochran
The Daily Caller ^ | June 30, 2014 | Neil Munro

Posted on 06/30/2014 4:50:41 AM PDT by don-o

Volunteers working for tea party challenger Chris McDaniel in Mississippi say they have already found 20 percent of the invalid double-votes they need to cancel Sen. Thad Cochran’s business-funded runoff victory.

“We’re finished with Hinds County, and we’re up to 1,500” invalid votes, said Noel Fritsch, Daniel’s press aide.

That’s critical because McDaniel can force another runoff if he can find more invalid votes than Cochran’s roughly 7,000-vote margin-of-victory on June 24. Votes are invalidated if voters cast ballots in both the Democrats’ June 3 primary and the GOP’s run-off on June 24.

However, McDaniel can also force another election even if he can’t find 7,000 invalid ballots, said Fritsch.

“We don’t have to prove that we have 7,000 [invalid] votes…. all there needs to be is enough doubt about the election, and we’re confident about that,” he said.

That “cancel by doubt” strategy gives the McDaniel campaign an incentive to collect evidence about possible vote-buying and other potentially unethical behavior by Cochran’s campaign.

So far, there are many reports about shady outreach to Democratic voters supposedly undertaken by Cochran and his allies, particularly done by relatives of former Gov. Haley Barbour.

For example, The Daily Caller reported that Henry Barbour, the head of the Mississippi Conservatives PAC and the nephew of Haley Barbour, paid Democratic operative Mitzi Bickers “to make paid calls to potential Cochran supporters.” Those calls may have spurred many loyal Democrats to cast invalid votes.

In the search for improper votes, GOP officials who are affiliated with Cochran’s campaign are trying to block McDaniel’s search for invalidated votes that are recorded in the poll books, Fritsch said.

However, 19,000 absentee voters cast ballots in the GOP run-off, and many of those votes may be improper, say McDaniel’s allies.

The doofus McDaniel should have had a strategy BEFORE the runoff date. Such as attacking Cochran for his support for amnesty — which Dave Brat used to decimate Eric Cantor. But he sat there and refused to rally the White base, while Cochran rallied the Democrat’s Black base. Idiot.

Anyone know what might trigger a recount? It’s common for a recount to be automatically triggered if the margin of victory is .5% or less. But also a recount can commonly be triggered if it’s proven that there were substantial irregularities with the voting. Often, the loser is highly pressured to waive their right to a recount to keep “party unity”.

Not sure what MS law requires, but apparently McDaniel doesn’t need to find 7,000 illegal votes, but enough to show the election was tainted - wonder what that threshold is.

They should immediately bring charges against those 1500 fraudulent voters. After so many have spent plenty on a lawyer or spent a few days in the slammer, reduce/drop the charges when they tell who got them to vote.

Advertise “if you voted illegally in the June 24 runoff, you will be prosecuted. Admit it before xxx and charges will be reduced/dropped”.

I’m sure that won’t work like I want - but it’s fun to imagine it working ;)

What McDaniel might do is demand indictment of the individual fraudulent voter AND the poll official that helped in the crime. He would only have to do that a few times to scare the voter fraud out of Thad’s Black Legions and crooked Democrat poll officials all over the South. Then run a write-in campaign that would beat the Democrats in the race (Cochran and the other guy).

They are evil incarnate. But McDaniel KNEW this, and they said they would target Blacks. Cochran is PRO-AMNESTY. Many groups contacted him and made public statements urging MCDaniel to copy Dave Brat and slam Cochran over illegal immigration -- especially with the disaster on the border. He would have destroyed him. He refused. THAT makes me angry.

He only needs to prove that they voted in both the Democrat primary and the Republican run-off, which is illegal.

Can’t prove they voted for Cochran, but can’t disprove it either. So the only recourse is to petition for a new and fair election.

I think they should be focusing on closing the primary system personally.

Don’t think it will do any good but I fired off a message letting them know how despicable the actions in MS were.

I don’t think the national GOP believe they can do much as they need Cochran’s seat if he prevails in court or as opponent to a possible McDaniel’s write-in campaign.

Even if there are those in the national GOP that deplore the tactics used in MS, they can’t risk losing the game by chastising the beanball throwers.

But some beanballs have infuriated people so much that fans come out of the stands and onto the field. Then that brings some real problems.

If the Tea Party movement keeps this alive, and ‘comes down out of the stands and onto the field’ to chase and nab the beanballers, meaning that they protest and make progress in court or the Mississippi protest goes national then I expect the national GOP to pay some lip service and act like they care.

All in all, those who are influential and near the top of the national GOP are going to pay for MS one way or the other. Just how much they pay remains to be seen but I believe it won’t be a small amount.

Agreed, but the horse is out of the barn on this one, so McDaniels is doing what he can to unwind the mess.

They have lost this seat. Even if McDaniels prevails, the slime left behind by cockroach Cochran and McDaniels has probably already forfeited the seat.
