They're both trying to build some momentum towards a presidential run, based on sucking some bucks from starry-eyed moonbats. I don't think either believes they'll get anywhere in the coming round.

The worst they can do is build up a good internet mailing list and a moderate sized pile of cash they can use on future campaigns.
