BREAKING: 25,000-35,000 Democratic Voters Carried Thad Cochran to Victory

Mitch McConnell, the NRSC and the Chamber of Commerce went all in for moderate Thad Cochran in Mississippi (57% conservative rating with Heritage Action):

Back in Washington, Cochran’s most important allies resolved to muffle their anxiety and stick with him for another three weeks. The Chamber of Commerce polled the race, concluded the senator had a difficult but viable path to victory; the group began brainstorming inventive ways to make a splash in the state, culminating with a sensational commercial starring NFL legend Brett Favre. National Republican Senatorial Committee political director Ward Baker, confronted with Beltway pessimism about Cochran’s chances, repeatedly told Republicans in D.C.: “We don’t leave our people on the field.”

But it took 35K Democrats to push him past grassroots challenger Chris McDaniel:

Surprisingly, more votes were cast in the runoff than in the June 3 primary. McDaniel increased his vote from 155,000 on June 3 to 184,600 last night. But the 25-35,000 Dems who crossed over to vote for Cochran gave him the extra margin to surpass his opponent.

This is more reason for Chris McDaniel to run as a write-in candidate in the general election.

The price the gop should pay for this chicanery is DESTRUCTION! The entire party should be burned to the ground, and let the conservative phoenix rise.

The republican party should die for this behavior, and the way to kill it is to quit voting for it.

........ it’s an idiotic open Primary.

The GOPe will fight to keep it that way. How do you think republicans keep getting clowns like thad and Lindsey? OPEN PRIMARIES.

Open primaries help McCain win the nomination.

Shouldn’t this be a rather simple matter to investigate?

Should be simple enough. Might run into some resistance though in heavy Dem areas like Hinds. They're used to cheating and getting away with it. I know libs would like to make that a race issue but it's not, it's a party issue. Democrats cheat!

McDaniel is on Glen Beck right now and says he intends to do just that.

“If there are more than 6,000 such overlapping names...”

Knowing the Dem’s penchant for voting illegally, I’m betting there are WAY MORE than 6000 double votes out of the 25-30,000.

I just hope McDaniel goes after that aspect.

[ A protest wont help anything. If Mc Daniel wants to be viable in the future, he should accept his defeat and be graceful towards Cochran. The reason Cochran won is because he had the Barbour Political Machine Behind him and they knew how to game the system. They followed all the rules and McDaniel as a “roookie” got caught by surprise. If the Republicans want to change the rules to a closed primary, they should do just that. In the meantime, the rules are what they are. ]

McDaniel should fight, then he should see if he can write in barring the fight then he should run for Govenor and Challenge Haley Barbour if the write in fails.

[ They followed all the rules and McDaniel as a “roookie” got caught by surprise. ]

Is that a Tacit endorsement of playing dirty pool?

‘Just remember who started “Operation Chaos”...’

He didn’t start it by sending out racist, fear-mongering fliers lying about and smearing a member of his own party. What is the matter with you, that you can’t see the difference between what Rush did & what Rove/Cochran/Ruling Class GOPe did? Moral equivalence is for liberals.

With a team of volunteers, the 25,000 to 35,000 Democrat voters who voted in the runoff could be checked in just a couple of days.

Crowdsource it. I'm in!

this level of corruption in the Republican party should encourage any patriotic American to drop their party membership. I don't care what Limbaugh or any other republican says about a third party being a loser, it's time for a third party that will accommodate the 70+% of Americans that have no faith in either the Dem or the Repub party.

That would be great but wanted to keep it simple and accessible to all thus the “REMEMBER MISSISSIPPI” in the envelope.

Hope this catches on, would love to see GOP’s faces.

Well, it wasn’t against the law.
Conservative voters need to write in McDaniel, and let the seat go to the Democrats.
Only consequences will make GOPE relent.

This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. Cochran will pay and I hope his legacy gets ruined.

No...write in is not going to work.....it will elect the Democrat!!! Trick is to get Cochran out of the race. The Democrat Senate candidate is actually more conservative then Thad Cochran. I have heard the Democrat is toying with switching parties or running as an independent, conservative, who, when he wins, he will caucus with the new Republican Majority in the Senate. Methinks that’s the way to go!!! Folks in Ole Miss....there is more then one way to skin a cat!! The newly minted Democrat switching partie would gain votes from Republicans, Consrvatives, Indpendents, Democrats, Blue Dog Democrats and African-Americans who would have no where else to go!!!

Also.....in the meantime....Chris McDaniel should stay cool and demand that every Democrat, African-American vote be checked for legally voting. I believe that a good number of the Democrat 35,000 votes that went for Cochran are illgelly cast votes!!! If our POTUS Obama is the supreme lie teller in the world, what do you think his low life following in MS are? McDaniel...check all them Democrat ballots to sure they were legally cast!!!

But....the real culprit here is the Republican Establishment nationally and in Mississippi. The MS Senate & House should have amended the state election law so that only Republicans can vote in Republican primaries and vice versa for Democrats. If this had been done, McDaniel would have politcally slaughtered Cochran!!! Correct it...right now!!!

The nitwits in the GOP let this happen. They could have set up a closed Primary system but didn’t.

Changing the structure of a primary election is done by passing revisions to state laws, so I'm not surprised to see no movement towards closed primaries. That is one hill that the democrats will definitely die on, if necessary.

Tell me again, Michael Medved and Bill Bennett, how establishment Republicans are different from Democrats?

How likely do you think it is that at least 20% of the 30,000 democrats who voted in the runoff also voted in the dem primary?

I think it HIGHLY likely.

There was also “walking around money” on the streets buying black votes...that is also illegal.
