Conservative radio host and, recently, ABC News political contributor Laura Ingraham had some harsh words for national tea party groups that ignored long-shot challenger Dave Brat, the Virginia GOP candidate who unseated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) in an historic upset.
Ingraham singled out Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder and leader of the Tea Party Patriots, for shunning Brat in favor of more marquee races. In an article by the Washington Posts Ben Terris, Martin fired back.
She didnt know, she never talked to me, Martin, whom Terris reported was making about $450,000 per year along with some first-class perks, said of Ingraham. She was misinformed.
Her communications director was a bit more creative with his rebuttal, musing over vodka shots in a smoky bar: When did Laura Ingraham become Chris Matthews? When did she love to hear the sound of her own voice so much?
The TEA party is not a party. It's a movement. TEA Party Patriots is not the TEA Party.
Ingraham becomes more and more a favorite of mine with every negative story about her...
Correct.
TEA Party Patriots blew this one. Instead of learning from their mistake, they are attacking the messenger. Doesn’t speak well for the group.
Who is giving Martin this fat salary? Soros? If I were running Brat’s campaign, I would be very suspicious of this woman and her intentions.
More on “Jenny Beth”:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny_Beth_Martin LOOKY HERE:
In February 2009, Martins home was in foreclosure and her husband Lees temp agency was in bankruptcy. Despite this, Martin and her husband turned down a federal loan to save their house. Martin said she and her husband didnt believe it was the right thing to do. Instead, Martin and her husband began cleaning houses. It was while in the car on the way to a job that Martin heard Rick Santellis rant. This is America! How many of you people want to pay for your neighbors mortgages [when they have] an extra bathroom and cant pay their bills? [4] Martin credits Santellis words with goading her into action against the bail-out. Shortly after, Martin organized the first tea party rally in Atlanta. By June 2009, Martin had formed Tea Party Patriots, along with Amy Kremer and Mark Meckler. Meckler has since left the organization.[3]
As chairwoman of the super PAC, Martin sets her own $15,000 monthly fee for strategic consulting. She also draws a salary as president of the Tea Party Patriots nonprofit arm, getting more than $272,000 in the 2012 fiscal year, according to the groups most recent tax filing, putting her on track to make more than $450,000 in 2014 [5]
Makes ya go HUMM...
Maybe the TPP was listening to the same polls that Cantor was and thought it was hopeless. This should be a lesson to everyone about polls..
I’ve heard that Martin makes $250k salary and then pays herself another $250k or so in “strategic consulting payments,” totaling a annual salary of a half a million bucks. In 2008, Martin filed bankruptcy and was cleaning homes to make ends meet. Only in America.
Nothing like volunteering to serve in the organization.I can see travel expenses, and such but $400.000. That’s a bit much.
I am glad that Ingraham has featured some of these conservative candidates. The TPP keep calling, trying to strong-arm me into donating, but I got tired of their tactics. They don’t let you off the phone without a minimum donation. Now as I realize who it is, I just hang up. I only have a little to spend as a retiree, so I want to know my money is going straight to the candidate. It doesn’t seem to take long for these PACs to get out of hand. Not saying they all have problems, but one definitely has to take some caution.
Mark Levin has been supporting JBM and the TPP through all of this just FTR
Bwahahahahahaha
Trolling for clicks by stirring up a cat fight is pretty low.
The Tea Party (free private citizens) DID back Dave Brat... that's HOW he was elected.
The Tea Party IS NOT a bunch of self-appointed ‘leaders’. It's a movement - a collection of free citizens held together by beliefs... Our spiritual fathers are Rick Santelli, Rush Limbaugh, and Jim Robinson...
Ditto to what you said!
I seem to remember Martin making a similar stink about Palin one time, complaining publicly after a Palin speech at a gathering that Palin didn’t come out and meet/greet people. Which was funny, because Palin had a longstanding history of doing just that with her audiences, moreso than just about anyone. Maybe this was an instance Palin couldn’t, or had to catch a plane, I don’t know. But Martin gave the press an snarky quote about it that the press gobbled up and used to portray Palin as some snooty diva.
Seems to be a similar sitution/attitude now given towards Ingraham. I’m not always a big Ingraham booster (she’s had a habit of vacillating between establishment beltway-itis and enthusiastic grassroots support in the past), but Ingraham definately has well-earned some kudos recently, for both her Brat support and her steadfastedness on the illegals/border issue.
Call hem out early and loudly. Go Laura!
She became Chrissy Matthews when she supported Kelly Ayotte the RINO over Ovide M. Lamontagne, solely for Kelly’s genetalia.
