Hillary Clinton Says She Isn't 'Truly Well Off'

Hillary Clinton's multimillion dollar fortune has caused some negative headlines during the media tour for the release of her new book "Hard Choices," which is widely seen as a prelude to a potential 2016 presidential campaign. Clinton responded to criticism of her wealth in an interview with the Guardian newspaper published Saturday night by suggesting Americans won't be concerned about the more than $100 million her family has reportedly earned in recent years because they're not "truly well off."

"They don't see me as part of the problem," Clinton said of Americans who are upset about income inequality, adding, "Because we pay ordinary income tax, unlike a lot of people who are truly well off, not to name names; and we've done it through dint of hard work."

She's one of the 0.1 percenters, but she's "not truly well off."

What a selfish, self-centered POS.

Hillary's butler and personal chef agree... Even Bill's masseuse and chauffeur think things are getting tighter at the mansion... It must be true.

She discounts her vast wealth because, like all Leftists, she believes the rules only apply to other people

Michael Moore, Al Gore and John Kerry pay the 'poor victim' card too... It's disgraceful - and insulting.

Here is a story published about it that very day...

Senior administration official: The Cairo embassy’s statement does not reflect the view of the U.S. government; Update: Romney calls embassy statement “disgraceful”
posted at 10:34 pm on September 11, 2012 by Allahpundit

I thought the White House might decide to keep quiet on this and hope that the media doesn’t press too hard tomorrow. And I think they would have, if not for the fact that Romney’s surely ready to go nuclear on them for it and force the issue. Remember, thanks to a few openings created by Mitt (most notably forgetting to thank the troops in his convention speech), Obama’s angling to frame himself as President Foreign Policy for the stretch run to election day. How would that play if he’s suddenly being hammered tomorrow for Apology Tour 2012?

So here’s the walkback. You know who’s going to have a fun day on Wednesday? Jay Carney.

The White House is disavowing a statement from their own Cairo embassy that apologized for anti-Muslim activity in the United States.

“The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government,” a senior administration official told POLITICO…

“Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a Tuesday statement.

Here’s the last tweet from Cairo embassy account, posted three hours ago as I write this:

Really looking forward to hearing Carney explain which part of the embassy’s earlier statement failed to represent the views of the U.S. government. I want to hear it in his own words; hopefully the press corps will make him elaborate. If the White House rejects the idea that criticizing religion constitutes an “abuse” of free speech, then good for them. But let’s get it on the record, because we all know there’ll be more incidents of embassies stormed and people shot over “insults” to Islam — quite possibly in Afghanistan — and the tune’s likely to change later as political circumstances demand.

That was interesting....THANKS!

I find out more on FR than on ANY other “news” organization.

One thing for sure - zero and the rats cared more about getting reelected than anything ...not because he cares for our country but because the devil needs more time for his fundamental transformation.

What the hell does this even mean “not truly well off”? I *think* she is saying that they don’t have Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos type wealth but I can’t really be sure. In other words that they haven’t looted all the money that the country has to offer, just some of it.

You are most welcome. There was also a short-lived controversy about not allowing the Marine guard to carry live ammo. It was refuted later (if you accept the MSM as credible over USMC blogs and other sources) and buried by the Benghazi story.

Oh brother. What a clueless wench. I'm seriously hoping she gets the Democrat Party nomination.

She and her HINO got filthy rich taking money that other people earned in payment for selling their political influence. Yes, it is a lot like prostitution.

OK, she's wildly out of touch.

OK Hilary, hold your arms out. It makes it harder for them to throw the net over you.

I’m starting to think this is the Achilles Heel if she runs....she can’t seem to come up with a credible position about being one of the 1%, and that ain’t good (for her...)

The fake indian LOVES this issue, and will clamp onto Hilary's butt, like so:
