I’m just waiting for someone to come on this thread and tell me how tough the French are, how they aren’t going to stand for this sort of thing much longer and how there will be hell to pay soon.
I’m not buying it. France is no longer the country of Napoleon. The French have allowed decades of the Secular Social-Democracy nanny state to weaken them. Now as has happened so many times before in history, invaders are in the process of conquering the weak.
I would so love to be proven wrong on this.
“Im not buying it. France is no longer the country of Napoleon. “
AND they use foreigners to fighter their wars (Foreign Legion).
The French were tough, long past the age of Napoleon. Two examples are Verdun during WW I and Dunkirk during WW II, where the French covered the British retreat.
But that spirit is perhaps lost now. Part of it is, as you said, the socialist mindset.
But I think it's more due to reaction to the Nazi horrors. The Nazis brutally persecuted other races. So now Europeans are very hesitant to say anything critical about members of other races. They are now leaning too much the other way.
I think those French Foreign Legion dudes are supposed to be pretty tough. But I think a lot of them aren’t even French.
