“Walking does more than driving to cause global warming, a leading environmentalist has calculated.

Food production is now so energy-intensive that more carbon is emitted providing a person with enough calories to walk to the shops than a car would emit over the same distance.

The climate could benefit if people avoided exercise, ate less and became couch potatoes. Provided, of course, they remembered to switch off the TV rather than leaving it on standby.”

bu...bu...but does that just mean tailpipe emissions; or did he include all the energy used to produce the gasoline; the methane released by drilling and refining; the asbestos dust for using the brakes; the pollution associated with the tires production, use, and recycling; the (prorated) additional emissions associated police, fire, ambulance, recovery/towing, repair, recycling, and hospital services associated with auto accidents...not to mention all the additional pollution inputs for the necessary traffic policing, courts, and lawyers involved after an infraction/accident; plus all the extra pollution the "extra" (not needed if people walked instead of drove) traffic cops, firefighters, ambulance personnel, and other emergency & repair shop workers generate getting to and from their jobs, ... parking lot paving and painting, road construction and maintenance, ... etc., etc., etc.!

Time for these freakazoids by curl up and die to set a real example on to save Mankind and the planet!
