The US military was there for years. They had access at one time or another to every square inch of Iraq. They told us that they were looking thoroughly for WMD's and that when they found them they destroyed them.

If there are any WMD's in Iraq that ISIS now has hold of, then I'm sorry, but this is truly Bush's fault.

Or the fault of one of the contractors who got paid to eliminate the WMD's, but failed to do so.

I lost a wallet once in AZ. Round up 200000 of your friends and go find it.

No problem right?

That was my question when I heard this news. If such a facility existed, why didn't we bulldoze it?

The CIA learned that you cannot just blow up WMD facilities. That is what the US did during the 30 day air campaign prior to Desert Storm. And the CIA discovered it created local environmental catastrophes and killed a lot of people near the facilities. So the ole WMD components have to be disposed of properly. Not just blown up. And what was probably left was held in containers that leaked and could not be safely transported. Leaking containers holding WMD are a problem even here in the US. Research Hanford and WIPP. The old Iraqi facilities needed to be guarded and the public kept away.

I wonder how many of the ISIS army are actually old Saddam Baathist’s who knew exactly what and where their leader had hidden them...or at least the one’s they were to take care of? ISIS has insider intelligence to stockpiles/facilities that were never found.

Just because we thing we got them all, doesn’t mean we got them all. Ever have a glass shatter on carpet? You clean it up, vacuum it up, and “know” you got all the shards...only to slice your heel the next morning as you walk across the carpet in bare feet?
