Your “immediate hanging, without trial” presupposes everyone knows they are “in possession of, or transporting meth.” Read the whole story. 16 year old kid thought it was apple juice - drank it and died. Don’t think he would have been that stupid - who knows why he was transporting it.
I have a cousin who was driving a car with her “friend” across the Tijuana border crossing when the drug dogs sniffed something in the engine compartment. Turned out the windshield washer reservoir was full of liquid meth. She was arrested and spent months in jail (bond set at $1M -she couldn’t make that) awaiting trial - telling them she didn’t know anything (though she now thinks her “friend” may have known). Finally got released when they figured out she really didn’t know anything.
There are plenty of bad guys running the show that can be punished, but also some innocent people that unknowingly are “in possession of...” this crap.
