Aw, shoot! The IRS was trying so hard to come up with documents requested by the House Ways and Means Committee, as part of its investigation into the abuse of power against conservative groups during the 2012 election. But wouldnt you know it? One of those newfangled computer thingamabobs had itself a crash, and all of Tax Exempt Organizations Division director Lois Lerners emails done got erased!
Everything she sent to outside email addresses between January 2009 and April 2011 is lost into the ether. Everything she sent to the White House, the Justice Department, her old chums at the Federal Elections Commission, high-ranking Democrat politicians gone! All theyve got left is email correspondence between Lerner and other IRS employees.
Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI), who asked for all these emails a year ago, is fit to be tied:
The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRSs response to Congressional inquiries. There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.

No, surprise!
Right - and there’s no redundancy or off-site storage of electronic data at the IRS either, so let’s stop harassing that poor organization. And, btw, taxpayers - try this excuse come April 15th and see what happens.
Exactly. A friend works w/lawyers who receive DEMANDS from the gov for emails all the time. “We lost them” is never an acceptable excuse unless prison time is the desired result.
Can you say RICO?
This excuse works as long as you believe the entire government email system resides on one disk drive on one computer and is never backed up.
KILL THEM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT!
Does that now mean we should start an investigation of the investigation of the investigation?
Lerner needs to be arrested and jailed for contempt.
>> Remember that 18-minute gap from the Watergate tapes? That revelation helped drive the process of Impeachment by 1974 against President Nixon.
WINNER!
If Boehner does not now appoint a special committee, every conservative should vote for his Democrat opponent in November!
Backed up ...
Yes, I believe it is FED law that records be kept.
In fact that ‘record keeping’ caused us great effort and diluted getting real work done.
So I call B S !
And the B is not for the illustrious bo (or on second thought, maybe it is???)
It seems to me that republicans don’t really go after dem lawlessness with much vigor, even when they are in control of all branches. It’s a whole different matter though when one of them break any laws. The republicans are fast to go after any republican even accused of wrongdoing.
I wish we had someone that actually has a pair and isn’t afraid to use them and would at least make the case to the people that they’re witnessing major criminality within the dem party.
No problem.
They can be reconstructed by a forensic computer team.
Subpoena them immediately!! Don’t we need a search warrant?

I’ve been in the Corporate IT world for over 25 years and all companies with even a half way competent IT staff will have offsite backups. There is no way in hell that those email would get erased without a deliberate attempt to do so.
EXACTLY!!!!
Washington, DC Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement regarding the Internal Revenue Service informing the Committee that they have lost Lois Lerner emails from a period of January 2009 April 2011. Due to a supposed computer crash, the agency only has Lerner emails to and from other IRS employees during this time frame. The IRS claims it cannot produce emails written only to or from Lerner and outside agencies or groups, such as the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices.
The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRSs response to Congressional inquiries. There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.
Just a short time ago, Commissioner Koskinen promised to produce all Lerner documents. It appears now that was an empty promise. Frankly, these are the critical years of the targeting of conservative groups that could explain who knew what when, and what, if any, coordination there was between agencies. Instead, because of this loss of documents, we are conveniently left to believe that Lois Lerner acted alone. This failure of the IRS requires the White House, which promised to get to the bottom of this, to do an Administration-wide search and production of any emails to or from Lois Lerner. The Administration has repeatedly referred us back to the IRS for production of materials. It is clear that is wholly insufficient when it comes to determining the full scope of the violation of taxpayer rights.
Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Charles Boustany Jr., M.D. (R-LA) added, “In the course of the Committee’s investigation, the Administration repeatedly claimed we were getting access to all relevant IRS documents. Only now - thirteen months into the investigation - the IRS reveals that key emails from the time of the targeting have been lost. And they bury that fact deep in an unrelated letter on a Friday afternoon. In that same letter, they urge Congress to end the investigations into IRS wrongdoing. This is not the transparency promised to the American people. If there is no smidgeon of corruption what is the Administration hiding?”

We have our computers backed up ten ways to Sunday!
We can’t afford to lose any of our information or we would be *hit out of luck.
I guarantee the Fed government has backups too.
What a bunch of criminal liars!
One way to get action is to STOP PAYING OUR DAMN TAXES!
