Lots of different stories about this. The Ukrainians have claimed they are t-72’s in some stories, T-62’s in others.
If the different tales are to be believed, they came from:
A) Captured in Crimea, and brought through Southern Russia
B) T-62B’s that were captured from the Ukrainian Army in Southern Ukraine
There are numerous videos of the rebels using captured/abandoned/bought equipment, and it is confirmed that they captured at least one broke-down T-72 with reactive armor at a base in southern Ukraine.
They have even gotten WW2-era stuff running, including some of the 23 DUKW’s they found abandoned warehouse in Donetsk, an IS-3 “Stalin” that had been sitting on an outside concrete display stand for 60+ years, and several pieces from a WW2 Museum also in Donetsk.
We know Kiev has been deploying as many as 40 tanks at a time between Slovyansk and Luhansk, and that the rebels have captured a few of even the latest model Ukrainian stuff, but this is apparently too far south for that.
I tend to think it is the first case, as there were tweets a couple of weeks ago that Crimean volunteers were trying to get “Several” broken down T-62’s that the Ukrainians had left behind running.
EuroMaidanPR claims they were in a town called Makiivka 2 hours ago, so they are probably already in Donetsk by now.
IOW, the resident Pro-Moscow/Paulistinian wants us to believe that Russia has nothing to do with it, even though the tanks, naturally, would have to pass through several hundred miles of Russian territory and then past Russian military garrisons and checkpoints to enter Ukraine.
The media is reporting that they are T-72s, by the way.
Apparently this is one of the three tanks. Great for commuting.

Maybe someone can id the model.
