A dozen or so senior GOP senators gathered with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) headquarters to raise funds for Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) on Tuesday evening.
Noteably, none of them seemed too proud of it, based on how quickly they scurried away from the buildingsome outright declining to offer even a simple word of praise for Cochranwhen asked why they were there.
The fundraisera last dash from the GOP establishment and McConnell, who is all in to save Cochran from his conservative primary challenger, state Sen. Chris McDanieloccurred just hours before conservative Dave Brat crushed House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a primary for his Virginia House seat, delivering the biggest-ever blow the Tea Party has delivered to a sitting GOP incumbent.
Senators who gathered to offer financial support for Cochran included Cochrans Mississippi colleague Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AL), Rob Portman (R-OH), Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), John Barrasso (R-WY), John Thune (R-SD), John Cornyn (R-TX), Bob Corker (R-TN), Susan Collins (R-ME), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Dean Heller (R-NV), Richard Shelby (R-AL), and McConnell (R-KY).
Cochran himself didnt even show up for the fundraiser.
A Republican staffer told Breitbart News the mood inside the roomin which both Wicker and McConnell spokewas somber. There was a lot of looking at shoes, the staffer said, and a lot of people anxious to get out the door. When Wicker and McConnell spoke, the staffer said, what they didn't say was stunning.
Thad's name was only mentioned once, the staffer said, and there was no talk of what he had done, or what he would do... The silence was deafening.

Now that Sen. John Cornyn (RINO-TX) has won the recent primary, he now feels free to go back to betraying conservatives by helping raise funds for big spending establishment Cochran to help defeat conservative McDaniel. He backed Charlie Christ and Arlen Specter against against Marco Rubio and Pat Toomey, respectively, in 2009. We all know how that worked out.
Despite having weak candidates running against Cornyn in the recent TX primary, he only received 59% of the vote. With a strong opponent, Cornyn would have been history.
The applause as he was introduced at the Texas Republican Convention last week was very weak. Cruz, as expected, got an unabated burst of applause and chorus of cheers.
And of course, John Cornyn, the Texas embarrassment, was there. Thanks to the NRSC “slating” the election here in March, we are stuck with that wimp for another six years. Stockman, the weirdo straw man that the NRSC claimed was Cornyn’s opponent, but who never mounted a campaign, is sitting on a beach somewhere counting his campaign money. That’s how crooked the Republican Party has become.
But look at all the “conservative” states represented:
MS, AK, TN x 2, UT, WY, SD, TX, AL, and KY
They’re not a Senate or a gang. They’re just a club.
$50 bump from California to McDaniel’s Campaign.
Might as well.... nobody to give it to here in California.
WOW!!!!!.. A freakin' RINO parade
Hey Breitbart, Murkowski is from Alaska, not Alabama.
Makes me sick to my stomach we were not able to raise a decent candidate to deep six Cornyn. He’s with us till 2020....:(
Heck!
We’re missing McCain and that what’s-his-name - you know, that famous conservative from North Carolina who faced a primary last week - that .... uhm, er ...
