Britain readies 'last resort' measures to keep the lights on

Britain may be forced to use “last resort” measures to avert blackouts in coming winters, Ed Davey, the energy secretary, will say on Tuesday.

Factories will be paid to switch off at times of peak demand in order to keep households’ lights on, if Britain’s dwindling power plants are unable to provide enough electricity, under the backstop measures from National Grid.

The Grid is expected to announce that it will begin recruiting businesses that will be paid tens of thousands of pounds each simply to agree to take part in its scheme. They will receive further payments if they are called upon to stop drawing power from the grid.

It is also expected to press ahead with plans to pay mothballed gas power plants to ready themselves to be fired up when needed.

“Both the new demand and supply balancing services will be used only as a last resort – and are a safety net to protect households in difficult circumstances, such as a hard winter or very high surges in demand,” Mr Davey will say.

Turn off the lights where people earn their livings so they can keep the lights on in the homes they support by earning their living.

Just divert power to homes of UKIP voters. Plenty of power. Let those that vote to freeze in the dark freeze in the dark. It’s fair. those that opposed UKIP should live by their choices.

Or they could keep old power plants open and burn coal. They bought the green lie and will now freeze to death. Will the voters make the connection?

The English have all kinds of extremes. They outlawed Christmas dinner in the 1600’s. They create the most horrific fictional dystopian scenarios imaginable and then fluff them off like they’re nothing. Unfortunately, the new world order means business, takes no prisoners and doesn’t play fair.

And this is how the fall of the Roman Empire would have looked like if it had had electricity.

Modern progressives are de-industrializing western democracies, just like Obama is de-industrializing our republic. It’s called climate change.

Solar. That's the way to go during the sunny winters in Britain.

I could be confusing that with Barbados, though. They're both islands, right?

The cold will kill off the old people and the children who’s parents were not “enlightened” enough to abort them. To the communists this is a “win-win” since it will narrow the population down to productive adults!

Coming soon to America courtesy of Obama’s EPA!

Barack is focused like a laser on turning America into a third worl backwater.

Soon it will be a first class felony to burn coal, wood or petroleum products to cook, heat, propel a car or generate electricity.

The smartest people in the room, that is the ones who are busy telling us how we must generate the electricity that we need to power our hospitals, homes and factories, seemed to have overlooked the fact that on the coldest winter nights the wind often does not blow at all.

‘Britain AMERICA may be forced to use “last resort” measures to avert blackouts in coming winters, AFTER AMERICA’S NATIONAL CLOWN FINISHED OFF OUR COAL INDUSTRY AND ALL CARBON ELEC GEN STATIONS!! ‘

That couldn’t happen in America. Mexicali and Wa. and Ill. and the communist states of the northeast will be fine. Texas and Az. and the rest of the places where actual Americans reside are screwed. I have told people this was coming for over 40 years and was told never in America. By the way if you were planning on burning wood the new EPA regs are coming in Jan. concerning woodburners. Good luck and start planning now. Watch the price of longjohns go thru the roof.

Exactly. Though we can’t avert the blackouts.

We’ll be faced with punitive actions for ‘non-compliance’ and I fear the Smart Meters may be regulated up our...er...down our throats.

I know where I’m doing when it comes to that, but I’m not writing it here.
