Parris Island senior Sergeant Major assaults former Drill Instructor
Uncle Sam's Misguided Children ^ | 6 Jun 14 | Paul Shannon

Posted on 06/06/2014 6:07:04 PM PDT by Half Vast Conspiracy

The politics of this nation is starting to tear apart the tight brotherhood of the Marine Corps. Sergeant Major Paul Archie was arrested for third-degree assault and battery after an altercation with former Parris Island Drill Instructor Ethan Arguello. Arguello’s campaign cover from his time was taken by Archie, while the cop stood there on her radio. The Smokey Bear has since been returned and Archie turned himself in. The altercation came because Arguello is standing outside MCRD Parris Island protesting over the trade of Bowe Bergdahl to the Taliban for money and five terrorists who will kill Americans again.

Y’all don’t have an issue with an out-of-uniform SgtMaj trying to “discipline” a civilian?

If Archie had a problem with what Arguello was doing, he should have made his case from a respectable distance. He exhibited aggressive behavior steadily moving up nose to hose with Arguello. He was trying to get Arguello to take physical action. When that didn’t work, he took the hat.

Arguello a former Marine represented the corp better here than Archie did, by far.

Archie was just tossing a hissy fit, because he couldn’t grasp what has actually taken place concerning Berghdahl.

Have witnessed this myself. My best friend is a black guy from NYC, enlisted into the Airborne then on to Special Forces. I started in 2nd Ranger Bn before going to Special Forces where me and my friend met and worked on several deployments together. Both of us are retired now, but hav come close to blows a few times when it comes to the a$$ clown in the white hut. In his eyes, obama can do no wrong.

He doesn’t sound like a civilian, he sounds like a retired Marine.

You can bet that if the president were white SgtMaj Archie never would have lifted a finger.....

There is a very good chance you are 100% correct. He would have been protesting too.

Good chance that Archie is one of the all-too-typical brown noser toadies. We had them 40 plus years ago and human nature doesn’t change.

Wow.

The protester is on thin ice both legally and as a former Marine wearing part of the uniform while protesting. If the ball, hook and bird is removed he’s on more defensible ground, but I can’t support the idea of wearing parts of the uniform while protesting. I was against Kokesh and crew doing it when they protested against the war, and I can’t just switch because I think the protester has his heart in the right place.

The Sergeant Major is way out of line on several levels. Looks like the law sees it that way, since he was booked. As a senior Marine, you have to question his judgement.

When he gets out of his vehicle off base, in uniform and essentially counter protests, he’s breaking the same rules he’s trying to enforce, if that was his intention. In his case, while on active duty and while in uniform, the rules regarding political activity aren’t even somewhat murky, like they are for discharged vets or civilians.

As to race, who knows? I can’t see what’s in an individual heart from that video, besides barely controlled anger. Maybe he is pissed off at the wearing of part of the uniform while protesting and that’s were it begins and ends. He may be blindly supporting Obama because of race, but the guy protesting may be against Obama because of race. I can’t tell from the video and the story.

I’m aware of the overwhelming support Obama gets from blacks, but I’m not going to ascribe that motive to the SgtMaj here unless he declares it. I’m not willing to ignore the racial component that’s likely to exist, but I’m not going to automatically apply it, either.

It’s pretty depressing to see two Marines, former or not, locking horns because of the ineptitude of Obama. Like that old vet said at the D-Day ceremony, “it’s not that we don’t respect the CIC, it’s just that he makes it so hard to do so.”

I really don’t get it. Even blacks who are patriots and have served honorably insist on defending this disgrace of a president. I am convinced that they do not approve of his policies or his performance. There can be only two reasons: Their race trumps their patriotism; or they hate conservatives more than they love their country.

“So the military is splitting along racial lines? I never thought I’d see it.”

Historically that would be the norm and not the exception. Human nature is still, to this day, human nature.

You bet it’s all about race and will continue so for many millennia. It’s all the American people can discern.

Their race trumps their patriotism; or they hate conservatives more than they love their country.

Good observation; "either or" or "both and" is right. There's just not that much patriotism out there; even the original "Patriots" were opposed by 2/3 of the American people.

I heard about some problems during and right after Vietnam but by the time I joined in 1977 (DEP) and 1978 (Active) it had subsided to almost nothing. Of course, Presidents Carter and Reagan weren’t $#*+-stirrers.

In the late 60s and 70s it was full on race riots and areas that whites couldn’t go, black NCOs openly racist and protecting grubby, partly uniformed black militants.

The enlisted man’s club at Benning was off limits to us students because black militants had control of it.

It was service wide, with 160 race incidents at Camp Lejune in 1969, and race riots everywhere, including Army bases in Germany and even in Vietnam.

Blacks in the military moved and operated, and attacked, as a gang, never as individuals (with rare exception, not every single black was a part of the ugliness, just almost all).

These are representative events:
“”Forty six sailors are injured in a race riot involving more than 100 sailors on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk enroute to her station in the Gulf of Tonkin off Vietnam. The incident broke out when a black sailor was summoned for questioning regarding an altercation that took place during the crew’s liberty in Subic Bay (in the Philippines). The sailor refused to make a statement and he and his friends started a brawl that resulted in sixty sailors being injured during the fighting. Eventually 26 men, all black, were charged with assault and rioting and were ordered to appear before a court-martial in San Diego.

Four days later, a group of about 12 black sailors aboard the USS Hassayampa, a fleet oiler docked at Subic Bay, told ship’s officers that they would not sail with the ship when the ship put to sea. The group demanded the return of money that allegedly had been stolen from the wallet of one of the group. The ship’s leadership failed to act quickly enough to defuse the situation and later that day, a group of seven white sailors were set upon by the group and beaten. It took the arrival of a Marine detachment to restore order. Six black sailors were charged with assault and rioting.””

“I really don’t get it. Even blacks who are patriots and have served honorably insist on defending this disgrace of a president. I am convinced that they do not approve of his policies or his performance. There can be only two reasons: Their race trumps their patriotism; or they hate conservatives more than they love their country.”

Unfortunately, those two things are not mutually exclusive.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you’re a white American. Chances are that for your entire life you’ve been raised on the ideal of America being a nation of Americans. You consider yourself an American, not a European-American. You believe, either from personal experience, faith, or due to an ideal vision of what this nation can and MUST be, that color or creed are not barriers to being an American; that being an American is something inherently beyond such divisions.

Integral to your basic view of American citizenship and American nationhood is the belief that regardless of your race, your faith, your political inclinations or philosophical leanings that you are first and foremost an American. It would be utterly alien for you to think that, for instance, your church membership could trump your citizenship — that you’re not an American living in America but a Baptist living on foreign soil and waiting for the day when you’d take up arms with your fellow Baptists to form an independent Baptist Nation.

Hyphenated allegiances do not make up part of your psyche, you don’t think of the ballot box as a tool to funnel more resources to your tribe or your faith — your nation is more important to your identity than your hobbies, your social group, or your 9th cousin thrice-removed that you’ve never met. Your voting habits are based on what you sincerely believe are the best policies for America and Americans.

However, instead imagine that instead of being raised as an American you were raised in the household of ethnic and/or religious minorities that felt alienated from the political nation you were born into. Imagine if you were constantly reminded by how you looked, or how you dressed, or spoke, or the music you listened to, that you were basically different from your neighbors — not by your neighbors necessarily, maybe you were constantly scolded by your own group for trying to assimilate and taught that it was more important to be a member of your tribe than this strange fake-nation you happened to be living in.

Imagine also that all of your teachers, all the school textbooks you read, all of the television shows you watched, every preacher you ever listened to, and every politician you ever saw, told you that you had been VIOLATED by the rulers of this evil nation, that you have been EXPLOITED and USED and your ancestors maltreated and horrifically abused for centuries, and that all your failures and your sufferings are the fault of the hateful ruling race of the nation you reside in and the only people you can trust are people like you. Imagine further that you’re taught from an early age that everyone is a racist, and the only way you’re ever going to get anything is by looking out for your own race and surrounding yourself with fellow racists.

Doesn’t matter if its a steaming pile of bullshit, mind you. If the government, teachers, media, and your own people feed you the line that you’re not part of this country, that this country is evil and alien, that kind of constant pressure is going to drive wedges between people in a country. Even if you as an individual made a conscious effort to rise above the race-baiting, the religious sectarianism, or the cultural barriers that you were raised with they’ll still be at the back of your mind waiting to rise up unbidden. What’s more, the majority of people exposed to that kind of propaganda WOULDN’T try to make that conscious effort to be good neighbors, good Americans, and assimilate.

Some people in this nation do not consider themselves to be, first and foremost, Americans. They consider themselves, first and foremost, members of a race or a tribe or a creed rather than a nation. It’s as normal to these people as breathing, and they couldn’t possibly conceive that anyone could be different — just as you couldn’t conceive of being a racist Hyphenated-American. For illustration I quote Samuel L. Jackson explaining why he voted for Obama: “I voted for Barack because he was black. ‘Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people - because they look like them...”

Now, are you starting to see why some people mistake normal, everyday human behavior as some kind of RACIST CONSPIRACY? Have you ever heard the phrase: “I bet if I was white I would have been served by now!”? I have, and it shocked the hell out of me. I was waiting as well, in a busy place with overworked staff during peak hours, and I would have never in a million years assumed that racist games were being played on me by the harried wait staff and kitchen crew. Some people view absolutely everything in their life through a racial lens, every action they see “Black” or “White”. And of course those people with the most racist world view are most likely to accuse other people of being racists.

I’ve heard it repeated so many times that I just can’t help but assume people really believe it... “Now I don’t agree with the man’s policies, but waddyagonnado? I’m still votin’ for ‘im.” or “The man’s still a brother.” or any of a dozen variations on the same theme. That is real racism right there, voting for a candidate that doesn’t support a single thing you support, just because he’s the same race. Doesn’t matter if he’s a crook, a drug addict, or anything else, as long as he’s the right color. Now, chances are you and everyone posting on this site realize that you CANNOT build a free republic on voting behavior like that, that such beliefs are antithetical to liberty and poison to a republic. But, a growing number of Hyphenated-Americans believe, and vote, in that manner (are the city politics in D.C., Detroit, or similar starting for make more sense? When the electorate will vote for someone smoking crack and taking bribes just because he’s the right color, that’s what you get.).

The divisions in this country are being wedged ever wider. Anti-American leftist revolutionaries since the cold-war era have been trying to incite ethnic strife in this nation. Home-grown radicals and insurgents have tried to inflame and divide in order to weaken the American nation and its people. Influential members of ethnic and religious minority communities have long-since realized that it can be a very lucrative business drumming up fear and hatred in your own insular constituency — after all, lack of racism is a serious impediment to the careers of racial spokesmen, hence they have a vested professional interest in spreading racism on both sides. The best race-baiter is not just one that whips up the minority crowd, it’s the race-baiter that manages to piss off everyone else while making it appear that he’s a somewhat-legitimate advocate for his people. Entire generations of people are being raised to consider themselves something OTHER than American.
