Economics college professor Dave Brat, who is challenging House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the Virginia Republican Primary on Tuesday, says that the attacks ads Cantor has launched against him are "unbelievable."
Cantor launched an attack ad against Brat, saying that he worked as an economic adviser to Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine when he served as governor in the Old Dominion, but Brat said that he was happy to set the record straight on Newsmax TV on Friday.
"I worked on a revenue estimate panel that meets once a year and on that basis Eric Cantor put together that ad campaign," Brat told J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum."
"I was on that committee with every other major Republican in the state . . . and every Republican business titan as well as Eric Cantor's major donor," the Randolph-Macon College professor explained. "So he's making this thing up out of whole cloth, he spent a million dollars on that ad, just running and that's not the worst of it."
"He sent out a flyer last week having me push grandma off the cliff on social security cuts he can't even name my social security plan or find it," he added.
"It's unbelievable."
Brat said that some of Cantor's tactics are starting to backfire on the House Majority Leader and that "the grassroots is fired up."
"His team knows they're morally in the wrong across the board, and so none of his supporters are on fire because they know they got a bad horse so everyone's switching horses," he explained.

The “Old Dominion” would be unrecognizable to Patrick Henry.

“The Old Dominion would be unrecognizable to Patrick Henry.”
Henry knew a rat when he saw one! He would call out Cantor on no uncertain terms. He took on a king once. A lightweight majority leader wouldn’t frighten him.
What’s that I smell coming from Cantor’s camp?
Desperation. No, something stronger. A-ha—Fear!
fuec.
does Bratt have a chance?
Yep, he does.
When Bliley retired from this very reliable conservative district, there was a primary between Cantor and a guy (State Senator) named Steve Martin. Cantor was a jerk and I voted for Martin, but Cantor had more money and won by 300 votes. I got redistricted out of his district 10 years ago so I don't have to vote for him, but he remains a jerk.
Steve Martin remains a State Senator and is an ace.
This sounds like the same kind of sleazy campaign Romney ran against Gingrich here in Florida in 2012. These stinking democrats with ‘r’ next to their names are all the same. Lie, lie, lie. Pretend, pretend, pretend. Make sure there is no way the conservative wins. Once elected, be just as liberal as you can be. I’d just love to see Yes we Cantor lose this thing.
Just picked up my Brat yard sign from HQ today, and it is up.
