HOUSTON -- The family of an 80-year-old Navy veteran believes Houstons VA hospital put their loved ones life in serious danger. Shedrick Morris was transported to the Michael E. I will try. Just Damn. People trying to make me work on a Friday! :)
Big Time!
because family didn't bother to stick around and see how he was doing with his "chest pain" they now want to turn their guilt on others....
hospitals are not prisons...people can leave whenever they want unless they are under a court mandated mental health hold...
in my own experience, I've seem people leave on their on accord, demanding to leave, even though they were deathly sick or unable to care for themselves properly...yet they were completely free to do so....such is our democracy...
..knock off another patient and take the heart and give it to your friend?....
was he willing to go to an extended care facility and have 24/7 care?....probably not, because that would cost money and he would probably have to "spend down"....
people expect to live forever as long as others pay for it....
its called a “positive samsonite” sign...they come in with their bags packed and they intend to be admitted no matter what...often at the beginning of a long holiday weekend when the rest of the family plans on having a carefree week at the lake cabin, absent any responsibility to “dad” or “mom”.
I would have expected them to admit him to a VA Medical Center, which they declined to do until the EMT’s got him to an emergency room. THEN the VA agreed to admit him. He stayed until he was medically stablized, then released to home.
VA health care is an earned entitlement, and he had earned it several times over. I hope that type of non-treatment does not happen to you or your loved ones. Too bad Congress does not get the same level of non-treatment.
Oh, and Cherry, if you are working at a VA facility, thank you for your service. However, it would appear your cynicism has taken over your attitude and perhaps you would do better to work in another type of facility. YOU would appear to be the type of VA worker who can’t be fired, regardless of how you treat those in your care. I would suggest that you are part of the problem at the VA.
