Dad hits Perry Hall teacher with baseball bat after 'inappropriate' texts surface with teen daughter

The father of a Perry Hall High School student struck a teacher with a baseball bat after police were made aware of a series of texts between the teacher, a 42-year-old man, and a 15-year-old student, Baltimore County police said.

Police said an officer of the White Marsh Precinct read over dozens of texts that “described an emotional relationship that seemed inappropriate for a teacher and student,” according to a release from the Baltimore County Police Department. The girl's mother alerted police to the texts at about 3 a.m. at the precinct.

Police determined however that no crime had been committed. The case was referred to the Crimes Against Children Unit for further investigation, police said.

"There's nothing we've seen in the contents that's criminal," Baltimore County police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said of the text messages.

Thursday morning, the teacher went to the girl’s home in the 4600 block of Vicky Road to speak with the girl’s father. The teacher did so without permission, police said.

"The girl's father told the teacher to leave, but the teacher refused,” according to a police news release. “The girl's father then struck the teacher with a baseball bat.

“The officer found that the teacher sustained minor injuries and advised him of the process for swearing out a complaint of second-degree assault (a misdemeanor),” the release continued. “The teacher said he did not wish to pursue charges.”

So far, no charges have been filed. Police are not releasing the names of the girl, her parents or the teacher.

The father could file trespassing charges against the teacher, who has been barred from returning to the home. The teacher could file assault charges against the father, police said.

This is the way American men used to take care of these problems; probably why there were so few of them reported back in the “old days”.

We had a young male teacher in my high school who tendered his resignation after being beaten in his own driveway the night before. He could not identify his attackers.

there’s nothing like a good piece of hickory.

Afterward, he should have smacked the girl's behind with a thin branch, as well.

Father of the Year medal with Oak Leaves, please.

While I'm proud of the father for doing this, I don't know that a medal would be in order. He was just doing his job as a dad. And he did it right! What makes this act exceptional is that there was actually a dad around and that he was willing to step up and do his job.

That being said, I'd sure like to buy the man a beer.

Pale Rider

I usually just watch that movie to see Mr Eastwood clean house with that axe handle. Once he's done, I move on. I wish I had the stones to pull off something like that.

Aluminum bats do great but I can’t stand the hollow, thunking sound.

Yeah, nothing makes that cracking sound like ash. When I played Little League, everyone used aluminum but I stuck with my Louisville Slugger.

Today we are so far gone as a society that we automatically assume predation when older people interact with children.

But back in the day, there were also hundreds of written and unwritten rules of etiquette that kept people from committing social errors. Both men and women were warned against "giving an appearance of impropriety" by interacting with a member of the opposite sex in various contexts. Certainly this teacher should have known he was way over the line, unless the 42 texts were just brief, innocuous sentences about a school assignment. But why would they have been, when the mother, apparently having discovered them, called the police at 3 AM?

Baseball bats are exactly the tool to be deployed in these and many cases.

When I lived in a city, the locals used to use "d'aluminum" to keep the drug dealers out of the neighborhood. It's hard to stand around luring children if your kneecaps are broken.

“The girl’s father told the teacher to leave, but the teacher refused,”

A crime was committed: trespass.

An unwelcome presence involving borderline felony behavior at late hour is, failing to leave on demand, subject to force.

I thought this Dr. Lewinsky (was he a Democrat?) didn’t mind what had happened

You are correct, he was (at least in public) a total disgrace as a father.

For "Father of the Year", I'm expecting a brief hospital stay at the very least

Order of Father of the Year, degrees:

First Degree: Slaps him and calls him son of a whore: Medal

Second Degree: Hits him with a baseball bat: Medal with Oak Leaves

Third Degree: Breaks a long bone with the bat: Oak Leaves and Diamonds

Fourth Degree: Two shots center mass: Oak Leaves, Diamonds, and crossed swords.

More proof (as if more is needed) that maryland is THE Freak state. Leave while you still can. The high percentage of pervs and LIBs make long term prospectus there hopeless.

Not having read the article...the only reason I could think that the teacher showed up at the house is that there was a history of the father beating the girl, and the teacher went to protect her, remove her from the situation after she texted that she was being threatened by her father...hence the no criminal texts....Curious to see what the other side of the story is....

Any other scenarios is: Father ....bombs away!!!!!

“The girl’s father told the teacher to leave, but the teacher refused,” according to a police news release. “The girl’s father then struck the teacher with a baseball bat.

In light of the above how do they figure the teacher could have filed assault charges against the father? If someone refuses to leave someone’s property after being told to leave he should damned well expect that he might be hit with a baseball bat or worse.

Dogwood is the trick, harder and more dense than Hickory, Ash or Oak.
