The people that control the food can control the people.

It’s always about Control.

This is why farmers rule the world?

I get a kick out of the anti-Monsanto crusaders. Monsanto is just one seed company. Like its competitors, it produces both GM and non-GM seeds. Farmers choose what they want to buy, and from whom. The seed techs produce what their customers want to buy.

For their part, the farmers are doing the same thing: growing what their customers want to buy. Agricultural commodities are sold mostly on the basis of (1) availability and reliability; (2) quality; and (3) price, in that order. Most corn is used for animal feed and, in the U.S., for ethanol. Those are price driven markets, and farmers are chasing yield. GM varieties increase effective yield. That is why farmers buy them.

But if you want non-GM corn, go buy it. Look for the organic label. Pay the premium, and be happy.
