This is probably a stupid question, but, if it had been aimed at us, what would the effects have been NOT including the effects on electrical devices?

As far as I know damage to electric power grid and electric/electronic devices are the primary concerns.

So, in spite of the “SPF 20,000,000,000,000” comment above, any radiation that come with an ejection like that gets filtered out by the atmosphere? That PDF says that an EMP doesn’t have a direct effect on people, but the article described this as “a curtain of solar material” so I thought there might be other things in it than just an EMP.
