You don't know that...actually both the (low hanging) engines came off of a plane a third of the size of a 777 and it took a hero pilot to do it.

I'm unsure about stuff coming off, but stuff certainly came out of the plane. Here we see some stuff floating, but even more so when it sank and rolled with the doors open.
