5% Carry 60% of Fed Income Tax; 5% Carry 100% of Free Republic Expense

Free Republic gets about 40,000 unique hits a day. Going to the state donor numbers, we get about 2300 donors. That is about a 5.5% rate of readers to donors.

My testimony is that Free Republic is the best website on the internet. Notice that I didn't say, "the best conservative, small government, pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Gun, etc." website. That is true, but Free Republic is more.

I just had a near real time discussion with a FRiend on freepmail.

I've had zero pop-ups, ads, thefts, etc. since 1998. It was all discussion all the time. Where else do you get that? I’ve used my credit card in our secure system also since 1998 and I’ve never had a problem. Target, Michaels, and Neiman Marcus should be so good.

This is the best discussion software ever created. Bar none. I can track every comment I've made, every response to it, and I can reply and reply again and again and again. All of that without the dreaded outline gradually indenting until all that remains is the right side of the screen page.

There are links back to previous comments, there are links that bring up all responses to a comment.

It amazes me how much like a conversation Free Republic is.

AND, we have a moderator staff dedicated both to free expression AND to maintaining the conservative identity of Free Republic and to banging heads when necessary. They get their marching orders from our main man, Big Jim Thompson, who, with his brother Matt Dillon, keeps the riffraff liberal troll deadbeats away from our town.

So, if you're part of the 94%, then Mitt Romney was talking about you. It got him in trouble.

It'll probably get me in trouble.

Brother, can you spare even a dime?

Wagglebee just needed a break and has been busy with life. He keeps telling me he’s coming back but hasn’t yet. Lent is over and he’s still not here. I’ll let him know that he is missed!

A few FReepathons ago a lady whose family had lost their house and was living with relatives donated $3. That $3 was pure love and so very appreciated. If others want to snicker, let them. It shows where their hearts are. How many of those who snicker never give anything? That posters $3 made me cry.

That statement isn’t exactly right. And that is the likely cause of donations dropping.

Just like here in California, which I hope to escape shortly, driving people -and businesses - away affects the bottom line. Hardly surprising.

Trolls don’t belong on a conservative, activist site. They come to disrupt, not to talk.

Here is wagglebee’s response to the email I just sent.

“Okay, I’ve been incredibly busy.

I will be back by next week at the latest. Let everyone know!”

Guess we can expect greatness again, soon. Ha! :0)

Wonderful news! He’s been saying “soon” for a long time. “By next week at the latest” is soon enough, but after that we have to form a search party, gather a posse, and bring him back by force.

I don’t have his phone number. The only email address I have for him isn’t working.

I’m glad he’s coming back. He’s needed here.

I don’t know if Jim tracks such things but I was lurker back in the 90’s here. Never signed up till in 04 or 05, keeping below the radar. When I found out that Clinton was data mining the internet and onto Bush Jr. I figured they knew anyway, so what the hell.
I have learned more from Free Republic than any other site on the entire web. That is due to the atmosphere that Jim and his crew provide and the wide knowledge on virtually any subject that the posters on FR are savvy about. Thank you all for correcting my grammar and spelling as the help is sorely needed.
The only sore point I have about FR is each quarter Tenn. always gives more money than Kentucky. It is not enough to hand Tenn. their butts in basketball each year we should give more than Tenn. and would if the yuppies in Lexington would kick in their fair share. Yes, I used the dreaded liberal phrase ‘fair share’ as a conservative poster on FR.
Each time Ky kicks the a55 of a SEC opponent in basketball we should pony up a few bucks and some 1%er (another liberal term, I may be a closet liberal) out there in FRland should match it. I can dream can’t I. Let’s save a lot of time and call for the NCAA to go ahead and mail U.K the trophy for ‘15, it’s just about the point spread now.
By the way, there are only 2 things in Tenn. that I admire, one is the Smoky Mountains, the other is Dolly Parton’s chests. They are kinda similar when you think about it.
One other thought, Ky. will never be a power in the SEC in football because we are just smart enough to not take seriously any sport that requires you to hit a running opponent coming from the opposite direction with your head. I notice Tenn. is great at it. I know football causes brain damage, the proof is Lamar Alexander.

We probably have the same email address. I started looking around again and found a number that may be his. He and I talked about 2 years ago and the number I found looks similar to his. If it’s his home number he wouldn’t be home now anyway if he’s working.

“Trolls don’t belong on a conservative, activist site. They come to disrupt, not to talk”

That is very true.

Another site, where I heard about posters here being cancelled, lets people disrupt the posts for extended periods. I quit going there for a while because it was so annoying and checked this place out, even with the negative reviews I heard. It IS much more civil and threads are about what the titles say!

BUT, there is a fine line between limiting free speech and getting rid of everyone that disagrees with whatever the determined line is. From what I’m told - by some very conservative posters whose opinions I also agree with - the line here wasn’t always on the conservative side. I don’t see why those people would lie. But I don’t know how long ago this was either. It appears things have changed considerably. But, because of the past issues, I am reluctant to put a dog in this race. Just as I am reluctant to give any political candidate money, since they run as conservatives then end up stabbing me in the back when they become a Washington elite.

They moved and he sent me a new email a couple of months ago. I’m glad at least one of us can still get hold of him! I don’t have a phone number for him.

Is there a rivalry between Kentucky and Tennessee?

We are going to escape Mexifornia and end up back east. Went on an extended tour of Kentucky last year and it was wonderful. Warm, kind people, beautiful scenery, affordable acreage. I hate to tell you though, we decided to land in Tennessee near the border.

But if you can give me some info on why you prefer Kentucky, I might change our plans. They are fluid at the moment. I really wanted a farm in Amish country. Can’t get those in Tennessee!

There are anti-FReepers that have some, um, different views. There are also paid trolls that stir dissension. FR is a prime target.

FR has always been about Conservatives. It's not a Republican site which angers some.

Also it's not about free speech. This site is about backing the best conservatives around. If a poster is going to push the MSM medias view and they swallowed the Kool-Aid then they don't belong here.

Finally I'd say to trust your own experience here and NOT someone elses. :-)

YM, as one with an interest in folks going to church, I know that transitions of people over time is inevitable. They don’t like a particular sermon, they don’t like a particular decision, they don’t like that the pastor’s son goes to a Catholic Church, they find a shiny, new bauble of a church, whatever....and then they leave. I just expect it now. You’re gonna lose some, and you’re gonna gain some.

What it means is that you keep trying, because I know I’m far from perfect in this life.

Particularly, you try to keep your active group active, then you try to reach out and bring more into the active group, and if the Lord ever opens a door, then you try to restore friendships with those old members who went elsewhere.

Matthew 5: 23”Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.…”
