....[Obama] told troops he is thankful for their service. He called them "real heroes." He also pledged to bring a responsible end to Americas longest war. He promised to announce fairly shortly how many U.S. troops will remain in the country after the current combat mission is concluded at end of this year.

This is a LIE.
We are retreating in the war on terror under Obama. Afghanistan is a theater in the war on terror, and it is PATHETIC that the hack industry calling itself journalism can't see that fact. Too busy kissing the butt of the man child.
I’d prefer our guys leave the combat zone than spend another week under this buffoon’s ROE.
Heh, heh. Fairly shortly.
But don't hold your breath.
He has a lot of gall showing up for a photo op with the troops. Thanks to him, the sacrifices made by our military personnel are for naught. This country hasn’t actually won a war since World War II because politicians run these wars, not military.
Still, the media showed a number of soldiers taking photographs of him and seeming happy to see him. I suspect it was all staged. But if it wasn’t, I hope these soldiers realize that; thanks to him, their VA medical care is now crap.
He promised to announce fairly shortly how many U.S. troops will remain in the country.
I believe we’ll be there until at least January 2017. Push this off like zerocare, and blame the next person, be it hildabeast, a rino, or an actual conservative president.
My dislike of Zero is a matter of record. But, anything the guy does even accidentally that helps hasten the day that our kis are not dying in that hell hole I support.
Get em all out and glass it, starting with wherever Karzai is!
Actually, it doesn't matter what he says. It's all Obamawocky. Meaningless drivel.
Yes, we do not have someone occupying the Oval Office who wants the USA to succeed in the WoT.
The “announcement” will be days before the 2014, mid-terms, with hopes to salvage the Senate.
Yes, the actual draw-down will take years (just before the 2016 Presidential election) while the CIA continues to operate in Afghanistan in a very, very large role.
I remember Bush and his Thanksgiving suprise visit, that was Very Special, and he wanted no hoopla.
the won is a disgusting little boy.
Between him and Michelle you’d think he was running for re-election what with their sudden concern of the military, veterans, honoring soldiers, even white soldiers.
Probably just another try at fund raising.
Well somebody had to out the top CIA officer in Kabul. I guess Barry wanted to do it in person. :-)
fairly shortly

Nothing but palaver. Sounds strikenly similar to the “sooner rather than later” slickness that we’ve all before from another Democrat president.
Proof he rightfully believes he is hot water at home - IRS, Benghazi, VA, Obamacare, Fast and Furious, and much more - so he is goes overseas to a captive military audience trying to look good. With all the propaganda from the left, it won’t do any good. People are waking up.
Good point, but I don’t think he has re-election in mind, but rather something far more expedient that will allow him to remain in office. Weakness abounds in this country and he’s well aware of the options this affords him. Just saying.
Well said.
