I have two large knives for slicing fresh baked bread (oh...the aroma......!):
One which had belonged to my German grandmother, with a long pointed tip. She said it was too much like a weapon.
The other which my MIL brought from London in 1999, with the rounded tip. To hurt someone, you would have to attack with a sawing motion while holding it with both hands like a samurai sword.
Anyway, you could be right about the British. I’ll never go there because I speak neither Arabic nor Urdu.
