I read recently that GM has a two year supply of unsold Cadillac coups based on the Volt. According to one of my car magazines, under orders from Obama’s handlers, GM shut a plant producing a popular gas model and retooled it to produce 100,000 Volts per year. They’ve rarely sold over 3,000 Volts in any month. They’ve several times shut the plant “for maintenance” to keep down the over-supply.

Money invested by private individuals is usually efficiently invested to obtain profit. Money spent by the government is inefficiently invested for political ends. Therein lies the difference...and, why government should be kept as cash strapped and powerless as possible.

Yup. The fact is that this investment by JP Morgan is just one of many that are being made by companies that see the handwriting on the wall. What a lot of them are doing is creating livable neighborhoods for employees they're transferring to Detroit. With the direction the east coast is going they realize that they'll get more bang for their buck in Detroit. A lot of people are being transferred to Detroit and are finding it to be just fine.

Its also important to note the strategic location. Detroit is currently the second busiest freight crossing on the continent after Laredo. Its directly linked to Canada's industrial region which is why Canada is spending so much in the area. Canada is willing to pay some $5 billion to build a new bridge and the only thing holding it up is political in America.

Too often FReepers think they're being cute to be the first to say something disparaging about Detroit but more often than not, they just look like idiots to people who are paying attention to what's going on. They get fixated on abandoned houses and simply refuse to acknowledge the exact same thing happening in medium to large cities nationwide.

Examples posted and completely ignored

Sure Detroit has plenty of problems but none that can't be overcome with a little thought. The simple fact is that if conservatives don't step up to the plate and find solutions, the democrats will "fix" Detroit with our money and we all lose.
