3 out of 4 times he votes with ‘us’?

You really don’t know how it works in Congress.

1. McConnell shuts conservatives down.

2. Then he hands over bills to the democrats that they can pass without interference from conservatives (voting for cloture; same as telling conservatives to shut up).

3. Then McConnell votes against the democrat bills because he knows they will pass with just the democrats votes.

4. Then he tells his constituent fools back in KY that he voted against the democrat bill (even though he made it possible for them to pass it).

5. And then his conservative rating goes up (artificially).

McConnell is a progressive socialist who has learned a few tricks on how to appear to be a conservative.

And of course he’s duped people like you.

Yep, he must be quite tricky, since you guys worshiped this guy as a heroic conservative fighter before he was Senate Republican Leader. Guess he covered up his "progressive socialist" record for decades. And tell me, was Liz Cheney the "true conservative" choice in Wyoming? RedState.com says she was.

Plenty of freepers have "declared war" on conservatives like Mike Enzi and Pat Roberts. I guess it's okay to want them "crushed", even if the challenger is less conservative.

You seem to be confusing with me with Rand Paul supporters. Another "Tea Party" candidate who turned out to suck royally and is now working to shove amnesty down our throats. Oh, and he also endorsed the eeeeeeeeevil Mitch McConnell. Thanks, KY Tea Party! Good thing GOP voters took your advice that Rand Paul is our savior!

Unfortunately, numerous conservatives STILL can't get it through their head that Ron Paul style libertarianism does NOT = true conservative.

Neither are Ruling Class Party Hacks like yourself that play Apologists for the GOP-e leadership true Conservatives.

True Conservatives do not compromise principles for expedience and power for the sake of "winning".

That is the hallmark of a Statist - NOT a Conservative.

So you admit that BOTH the establishment choice in KY (McConnell) turned out to be a disappointment, as well as the "Tea Party" choice in KY (little Rand).

Haven't you heard the old saying about not throwing stones in your glass house?

Ever consider McConnell crushed Bevin BECAUSE Bevin was a LOUSY candidate, and that wouldn't have happened if the Tea Party had run a CREDIBLE articulate conservative candidate like they did in Nebraska with Ben Sasse? Maybe the "Tea Party" needs to learn from their mistakes and get their act together instead of crying about how much it sucks that they lost?

You don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

You people would be castigating a Ronald Reagan clone for being a ‘lousy candidate’ too if he didn’t win.

McConnell would have ‘CRUSHED’ whomever ran against him. That is what Machine politicians and cronyism do to challengers.

McConnell spent millions in an unlimited war chest of nasty attack ads bashing Bevin for well over a YEAR and it has been NON-STOP. McConnell had the help of local KY media who essentially reported McConnell press releases as news reports.

I find it interesting that the race was called for McConnell before the polls closed yesterday with the same percentage in the final that they declared in the late afternoon.

I’ve only experienced something similar like that before in Cook County, IL.

Bevin was a lousy candidate who kept doing stupid things like speaking before the John Birch Society and supporting the legalization of cock fighting in KY, and there is nothing in his background that supports his claim that he’s a conservative—we just have his word for it, and we know that he’s far from honest, as his risible claim to being an MIT graduate shows. A good candidate running to the right of Mitch McConnell could have defeated him, and then gone on to trounce Grimey (as she prefers to be called) in the general, but, alas, McConnell didn’t face a good candidate in the primary. I think that we really got lucky that Bevin lost the primary, because I’m afraid that he would have lost to Grimey, but, had Bevin defeated McConnell, he would have had my enthusiastic support, since even if Bevin turned out to be disappointing or incompetent he’d still be a heck of a lot better than giving Grimey a six-year Senate term and allowing Reid to control the Senate agenda.

You’re just spouting the Mitch McConnell smearing talking-points just like the rest of the clapping-seals media and Ruling Class hacks that support the GOP no matter what they do.

Bevin NEVER claimed he was a graduate of MIT. Bevin clearly stated he completed an EO/MIT Entrepreneurial Master Program which was part of the MIT Enterprise Forum…. errr - you know what - ONE MAJOR REASON Bevin never got traction was because from the moment he announced his intentions to run for the seat, he had been continuously defending himself from bogus attacks.

Bevin was outspent 5 to 1 and STILL McConnell only got 60% of the GOP vote.

McConnell loses to Grimes, and deservedly so. I will be happy as a clam to see him retired.

At least I will know who and where the enemy is, rather than having to look behind me all the time wondering when I’m going to be shot from the back on orders from General Mitch to his Praetorian Establishment goons.

“I find it interesting that the race was called for McConnell before the polls closed yesterday with the same percentage in the final that they declared in the late afternoon.

Egads! So you think that Kentucky Republicans voted for Bevin yesterday, but McConnell stole the election, with the national media in on it? You’re going to need several rolls of Reynolds Wrap for your hat.

McConnell was well ahead of Bevin in every poll (and there were quite a few) prior to the primary, and, if anything, the primary results were better from Bevin than what the polls predicted. And you think that there was chicanery going on to turn Bevin votes into McConnell votes? You have to face the fact that Bevin just was not very popular among KY Republicans, even among those disappointed with McConnell. Here’s an independent poll from less than two weeks ago that had McConnell leading Bevin by 53%-33% *among Tea Party Republicans*. http://maristpoll.marist.edu/wp-content/misc/KYPolls/KY140430/Complete%20May%202014%20Kentucky%20NBC%20News__Marist%20Poll%20Release%20and%20Tables.pdf

How could Bevin win when he didn’t even have a majority of Tea Party Republicans in his column? You can blame Rand Paul’s endorsement, or McConnell’s money (although it should be noted that Bevin raised like $4 million, which ain’t hay), or the Illuminati, but the fact remains that it would have been superfluous for McConnell to have tried any shenanigans in the primary count, because everybody knew that he was going to win big.

Call up Bevin, and ask him whether he believes that more Kentucky Republicans voted for him than for McConnell but that McConnell rigged the vote; I bet you that two of the first ten words that come out of his mouth are “you” and “delusional.”

And as for your claim that “McConnell would have ‘CRUSHED’ whomever ran against him,” well, I beg to differ. McConnell crushed Bevin because Bevin was crushable. Had a first-tier conservative run against McConnell, he would have *tried* to crush him, but would have been unable to do so; perhaps McConnell would have won against a good candidate, but he wouldn’t have crushed him by 25%, since there was real disappointment with McConnell among KY Republicans, as was proven by the fact that a third-tier shyster like Bevin could get 35% of the vote.

Nice roundup on the KY race. Quality tea party candidates need to be extracted at all costs. My own state’s Ted Cruz needs to be the template as an example. Find the closest match, and then just work from there.

Bevin lied on his LinkedIn entry about his education, falsely implying that he was an MIT graduate. Here’s the screenshot of Bevin’s LinkedIn profile, before he got caught and changed it: http://thehill.com/images/stories/news/2013/08_august/21/bevin.jpg

His “education” line next to his picture lists only “Massachusetts Institute of Technology,” and when one scrolls down to see the details of his education it says that he studied “Entrepreneurship” at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2006-2008, and that he graduated from the Entrepreneurial Master’s Program at the MIT Endicott Campus. In fact, the “entrepreneurship program” in which Bevin was enrolled and from which he graduated has absolutely nothing to do with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or any of its graduate schools.

Bevin falsely used the MIT name because the *conference center where he took his courses* happens to be owned by MIT and is used by its grad schools for some courses, but the conference center is also rented out to other folks. (I guess it’s a good thing that Bevin didn’t also take yoga classes held at the basement of the Harvard Law School building, or else he’d claim he attended Harvard as well.)

So because the program was “sponsored” by the MIT Enterprise Forum (among others) it means that he can claim to have studied at MIT? The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies is affiliated with Harvard University, but if it is one of several “sponsors” of adult-education courses in Boston it doesn’t mean that people who take the courses studied at Harvard.

Bevin claimed to have studied entrepreneurship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology—that’s the name of a university, not a neighborhood in Cambridge. He added that the courses were “at the MIT Endicott Campus,” which is a business center that is rented out by MIT. He easily could have described his certification in a way that did not imply that he’s an MIT graduate, and used the same second and third paragraphs to describe the program (there’s some puffery in the second paragraph, but no dishonesty), and no one could have called him a liar. But he decided that being honest about the program he attended wouldn’t cut it, and he had to lie about it.

The Entrepreneurial Masters Program (apparently Bevin even misspelled the name) consists of shelling out $4,000 to attend four days of lectures, and then doing it again for two more years, and after having paid $12,000 to attend 12 total days of lectures over 3 years, they give you a nice diploma that you can show pictures of when asking for political donations. See http://events.eonetwork.org/emp/ The “course description” sounds like the “courses” they offer on cruise ships. I doubt very much that this program consisted of a few months of studying on your own time and then four days of lectures; it’s a four-day-long series of conferences, which, quite cunningly, they’ve packaged together with two additional four-day-long series of conferences that the person has to pay for in order to earn the “certificate.” It’s like the Yale Travel Society, but without the Yale professors, and no one could claim that they “studied at Yale” because they heard some lectures while on a cruise of the Danube.

I’m sure that many people consider those $12,000 money well spent, and maybe participants leave there as the greatest entrepreneurs in the world, but I have to tell you that, having three first-cousins who graduated with a BS from MIT during the past 20 years, I know for a fact that one cannot get an MIT diploma by attending 12 days of lectures.

Who would pretend that participating in such program was the equivalent of studying at MIT for three years? Not an honest person, I would say. And if Bevin felt the need to pad his résumé in such an outrageous manner, I don’t think he’s very proud of his real accomplishments.

Oh, but feel free to continue to blame Mitch McConnell for Bevin’s character flaws.

Every state is different, so someone with Ted Cruz’s persona may not be the ideal candidate for Minnesota or Virginia, but, yes, we need quality folks like Cruz (or Mike Lee, or Sasse, or Toomey, or Tim Scott, or Ron Johnson), not unvetted candidates who don’t even have a record to which they can point to show their conservative bona fides.

I specifically said I found it interesting and noted I had seen that same phenomenon before in Cook County. That's all I said.

We are dealing with a Machine politician and his cronies and stooges here with a complicit media. They are going to do everything to crush anyone who dares challenge their positions of power and control.

with the national media in on it?

Let's see…. The VA, Benghazi, Youtube Videos, Climate Change …. I suppose it's a ridiculous notion to even think that the national media would ever be in on some kind of political corruption or cover-up….. right???? /sarc.

I mean, the media is gleefully reporting tonight that Conservatism IS DEAD. to cheers from the same Ruling Class hacks you congratulate for holding onto power.

We suffered a velvet coup some years back. Everyone pretends it never happened and voting for the Establishment will solve all our ills and fix everything wrong.

Progressive socialist in the sense of growing the federal government ever larger and larger. McConnell is just that.

You can take it to the bank that McConnell will never lead an effort to repeal Obamacare.

Everyone who wasn’t deluding themselves knew Bevin would lose badly BECAUSE he was indeed lousy.

A top tier challenger wouldn’t have had an easy time but he’d have had a real chance and wouldn’t have gotten blown out.

Competing against a Senate leader takes much more than some clueless libertarian who lied about his educational background.

As for the the election being called early and the margin remaining consist throughout the night, that happens all the time. No one needs to steal an election against the caliber of candidate of a Matt Bevin.

Yes.

Some people seem to think that if McConnell loses to the rat then Cruz or Sessions or some other “true conservative” will then be the leader and all will be right with the world.

More than likely it would be Cornyn, maybe as the minority and not majority leader. That sound like a good idea to anyone?

And indeed even if a Ted Cruz or a Jeff Sessions became leader, how long before that role makes some people see him as “RINO scum”. Best recipe for making Ted Cruz the most hated man around here? Make him the leader. I think you gotta go back to Ev Dirksen to find a Senate leader that anyone remembers fondly. Nature of the job unfortunately makes them compromise too much.

Look at Eric Cantor, he was very well liked by conservatives. Now he’s LOATHED by some to the point that people are wasting their time promoting a desultory challenger to him.

One thing is certain, electing some commie witch to a 6 year Senate term to replace someone who’s voted 90% Conservative would be a major step in the wrong direction.

I never knew until this thread how unhinged some Bevin supporters are (and again, I say this from the POV who WOULD have voted for Bevin solely as a protest vote because McConnell has been in DC too long).

Everyone knew it was a foregone conclusion that McConnell would win easily after Bevin self-destructed by talking to a bloodsport group. He was a long shot to begin with, and that story put the final nail in the coffin. Every poll showed McConnell was leading by double digits. If anything, the results on election night showed Bevin did BETTER than most people expected, because he was expected to get crushed. Anyone who thinks this election was "stolen" with vote fraud is delusional. I can't believe the number of Bevin fanboys here who are "shocked" that McConnell won. News flash: Bevin losing easily is as much "news" as updates about the new Godzilla movie revealing that Godzilla breathes fire and knocks down buildings. Bevin got his butt kicked because he was a piss poor candidate, his fan club here needs to get over it.

I'm no McConnell fan (I wasn't even a McConnell fan back when it was "popular" around here and the same people calling him evil RINO were worshiping him as the great conservative champion taking on the eeeeeeeeeevil John McCain over campaign finance reform). He is what he is: a status quo Republican in Washington who usually votes the right way but is a don't-rock-the-boat kind of guy. If some freepers think it would be better served by having his lose to a hardcore marxist RAT, knock yourselves out. I doubt you'll get your wish but we're still suffering from the "conservatives" who were content to let Al Franken win to "teach Norm Coleman a lesson" about not being a perfect conservative.

I have a DIABLO (Democrat In All But Label Only) Senator who really is a "progressive socialist" and so liberal that he calls himself a "Republican" but supports partial birth abortion, gay marriage, and Dick Durbin's re-election, so spare me the hyperbole about how McConnell is in that category. If you really think that's the case, I will GLADLY trade my Obama loving liberal DIABLO for McConnell since there's "no difference" (and again, ironically, a bunch of freepers were begging me to vote for the far-left abortion loving socialist because "we need a majority").

We're used to calling liberals crybabies because they scream about how it was "STOLEN!!" every time they lose an election and didn't get their way. Sadly it seems some "Tea Party" have the same attitude. "Nobody liked my candidate!!! WAHHHHHHHHHH!!!NOT FAIR!!! VOTE FRAUD!!! THE OTHER GUY IS ILLEGITIMATE AND STOLE IT!!!!!!!"

Pathetic.
