Shouldn’t the Pope find out if these prospective aliens have a spirit? I mean, they may be technologically advanced and yet have no spirit in their soul of life and operate on a completely utilitarian basis. Baptizing such beings would insult the very reason Jesus was crucified and rose from the tomb! Might as well baptize dogs and cats and ... oh wait!

(1) Any being capable of recognizing a need for salvation and who would humbly ask for baptism would, by definition, have a soul.

(2) The Church does not baptize "dogs and cats" - but it does bless them, just as it blesses homes and churches.

Just guessing, but a race intelligent enough to conquer intrastellar travel probably has the soul thing down.

How interesting, I was just watching a program about aliens the other night on the History Channel. It seems that many of the abductions around the United States, claimed to be by aliens, involve the aliens trying to understand why/how humans have souls.

As MUFON continues their research into the files about abductions at the ‘hotspots,’ a common theme has emerged. Contrary to some of the more gruesome type abductions these ‘hotspot’ visits involve placing the humans in chambers and taking their souls out of their bodies and then placing the soul back in.

Apparently they fear the human soul and rightly so as the human soul is the very breath of God.
