I don’t follow football like I used to year ago. Is this guy really NFL material?

I don't follow football like I used to, either. From everything I've read he's a borderline NFL player whose draft position dropped considerably due to two major factors: (1) his poor showing at the NFL combines this past winter, and (2) the fear on the part of many NFL teams of inviting a circus-like atmosphere to the team if they draft him.
What makes this story even more strange is that he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams, who already have some of the best pass rushers in the NFL on their defensive line. This guy will have a hard time making the team.

Not really. He’s undersized to play LB - which I think was his college position. The Rams have drafted him to be an edge pass rusher - but by that notion, he’s not really fast enough to play DE.
I suspect he’ll play special teams first and maybe nickel packages a bit. But that’s IF he makes the team. He was a 7th round pick after all and the Rams have one of the better D-Lines in the game.
