This referendum is not legitimate, it was setup by Russians for Russians, to take Ukrainian territory away from Ukrainians. Russians are a minority in the very regions of Ukraine they want to separate from. They are the thugs in the streets, killing and burning and taking over govt buildings. Are the Ukrainian majority in the streets killing, burning? No they are not.
The legitimate military forces of the Ukrainian govt are fighting back against thugs in the street that will kill anyone who is not pro-Russian in Ukraine. This is Ukraine not Russia, Russians have invaded Ukraine, Ukrainians have not invaded Russia.
Still it continues the Russians are the aggressors and cause of most of the violence. The Ukrainian military forces should drop them all at Russian border and they can have their wish to live in Russia.
In one post a Russian propagandist posts a picture of a woman with an AK-47 and claims she is protecting her home. From whom? What BS! She is standing in a parking lot. The parking lot is her home? Next picture of same woman with AK-47 she is patrolling the streets, she is not protecting her home.
Time to start calling this BS from these pro-Russian BS propagandists, Freepers.
I support a national election that all Ukrainians of voting age can vote in to elect a national govt, not this Russian farce referendum to steal Ukrainian territory.
I’ve got an idea. Why not direct your attention to the actual news articles and photos? I have not read any person here cheering on Putin. The Ukrainian people are the ones to cheer for.
What is different about the threads concerning Ukraine now are those posting snarky remarks and blatant insults who have a very deep and real hatred for anything regarding Russia.......and this regardless of how or what posters are saying or posting. What is lacking on the people supporting Maidan and the Kiev Government is they are NOT posting evidence to support their position....nor that to counter what is being posted happening in Ukraine. They are not doing the WORK to investigate these events to see who is doing what and where. They just spew their nastiness.
This thread shows people fighting for "Independence" and those opposing that. We know the history of Eastern and Western Ukraine....and their culture differences being played out as well. We know Russia has people on the ground and so does Nato/Eu/US all masked as something other than what they are.
When you have Ukraine people going to voting stations and being shot by Kiev Gov. soldiers.....it is what it is....not what others might want it to be. When Kiev Gov. are pointing tanks against citizens and the like...that is what it is. Same with roadside blocks etc
Lay the blame for the beginnings of this where you want....we each form an opinion on that...that does not mean any must take one side or the other. Though most here are for the Ukraine people who are seeking to disassociate with what they perceive as a Nazi Gov. threat......further it's pretty obvious they are not crying out for NAto for help...nor the USA or Europe....rather they want them out of their country. That does not mean they want RUssia in. Though some do who are Russians.
I will continue to support the Ukraine people in Eastern Ukraine, and any other area in Ukraine who seek to do likewise from the Kiev Gov. as it now stands there.
There is nothing currently in Ukraine being done "Legally"....and hasn't in the past for that matter. There are many outside nations with their hands in this pie. Just as their was In Syria, Egypt, Libya and others.
The people have a right for 'self-determination'......they cannot be denied it. I support that.
Ask yourself what the US culture relationship is with Canada and how it differs from Mexico. Asking the Ukraine people to accept the differences between Eastern Ukraine and Western Ukraine is like trying to get the Palestinians and Israel on the same page.....some will get along...most won't.
