From my understanding the Ukrainians began wearing these ribbons in opposition to the Nazi’s element in Ukraine and in what they perceive as the Kiev Government. Since they identify it with the defeat of Nazisim in their country.
Ukrainian Right Sector neo-nazis hanged a Ukrainian militia in the forest. Draped around the tree is a black and red flag , ( I cannot show the rest as it will show the mans head in a noose).....The red and black flag that they use is the flag of 'Ukrainian Fascism and of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army' (UPA), which assisted nazi Germany during the World War II.
