The question that has to be asked and re asked is why, after an attack on a US Mission, the murder of an ambassador and three others, it is left to the US Ambassador to the UN, position with zero power over policy and action, to explain to the People what happened. It is a crime that not one of the five interviewers asked, “ Why are you here instead of the Secretary?”
The reason Rice was put out there was precisely because she knew next to nothing about it, hadn’t been involved and didn’t have any responsibility for taking any action or even following it as it happened. All she had to do was get out there and read the statement, and there wasn’t really anything anybody could ask her because she honestly didn’t know anything.
Somebody else might have inadvertently said something that would reflect Obama’s culpability or negligence (where was he that night and why wasn’t he in the Situation Room?) or would have pointed to their own culpability. I thought it was very interesting that not only did the people actually involved not appear to explain right after the event, but were immediately taken out of the public eye by being sent on extended foreign trips, or having some sort of unspecified health crisis that necessitated their complete rest and seclusion, or even, in some cases, were retired from their positions or were moved into other positions that would keep them out of sight.
Susan Rice was used as a "Cats Paw" by Clinton. She's a minority and therefore gets the soft soap treatment from the press and Clinton didn't want to be caught in a lie when she knew that eventually the truth would come out. Typical Clinton MO.
