Because normal Americans cannot be convinced that warmer climate causes record cold weather.

That is difficult to wrap one's head around.

I recall decades ago (1960s), some relatives lived in a house that did no have electricity. They did have a refrigerator -- a gas refrigerator -- with a pilot light.

I still am astonished by the ingenuity of that appliance.
