GOP senators: Arm Ukraine, hit Russian banks

Saying President Barack Obama hasn’t been tough enough on Russia, a high-powered group of Republican senators introduced legislation on Wednesday aimed at imposing new sanctions on Moscow over its actions in Ukraine.

“Rather than react to events as they unfold, which has been the policy of this administration, we need to inflict more direct consequences on Russia prior to Vladimir Putin taking additional steps that will be very difficult to undo,” said Bob Corker of Tennessee, the top GOP member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who drafted the measure.

The congressional push for a harder line on Russia comes with Obama set to welcome German Chancellor Angela Merkel, one of his key partners on Ukraine, to the White House on Friday.

If we start playing in their front yard, don’t be surprised when they do the same to us.

You are ignoring the fact that Russia has a long history of abusing and murdering its neighbors. That’s why Russia’s neighbors invited NATO troops into their countries. They see the graves everyday of those killed by Russians and do not want more.

Russia is by far the biggest economy in that region. Everybody would much prefer to avoid conflict and do business with them. Unfortunately, Russia has felt a need to have a hegemonic relationship with neighboring countries. That is on the Russians and the blame US routine is a lame leftist diversion. Enough.

...”invited NATO troops into their countries”

Nato, in turn welched and stripped them of defense systems.

American national security interests are the same today as they were for many years.

The themes are broad and general, Containment of our enemies, aggressive attack when we are attacked...ie Pearl Harbor and 9-11.

The guns to Mexico, weapons to AQ, gay issues are petty little F-Ups by Obama. They are not broad ForPol goals of this nation.

Elections have consequences. We have real enemies: Iran,China, Russia, Jihadists....to me it seems it is the isolationist who can’t get over and fixate on the relatively small things and are willing to let the bigger things that matter be written off.

Really? Some guns sold to Mexico is to be fixated on but China attempting to build a blue water navy and coerce it’s neighbors out of their territories, Russia annexing parts of nations, and Iran building a nuclear capability...is none of our business?

Here's who is pushing it...McCain has personal interests in Ukraine, they supported his election more than one occassion.....He's the point man for regime change in other nations...ie: Syria,Egypt,Libya,Ukraine...Since the mid-1990s he's pushed for regime change in more than a half-dozen countries....his side job is Senator for Arizona when he's not playing poker on his iphone at Senate Hearings.

They are far from the same they were. Come on for crying out loud. Are you the only person alive that buys that?

Look at what we have done since Zero and the dems invaded the White House and tell me with a straight face we follow the same goals we always have.

I’m sorry. that was a completely asinine post. The proof of how far we strayed is plain as day in every foreign policy disaster the world sees daily. Why do you think Japan is rearming? Why are all these allies abandoning us?

you need seriously to reevaluate your belief structure on this because it is provably and dangerously wrong.

“We have real enemies:”

yup...

Iran...refuses to stop their nuke program

China...sells them high tech

Russia...More flexable since election ended when it came to gutting missle defense against them

Jihadists...sends them MANPADS, small arms and won’t let American soldiers kill them/puts them in Leavenworth when they do.

I’m right on the money and I’ll debate you specific point by point.

Obama foreign policy is a failure, but he is just tinkering on the edges, mostly insignificant stuff. Except for Egypt, that was a royal F up. But alas, it was reversed by the people of Egypt.

Japan is rearming because we have told them to do so. Read up on the Asian pivot. You probably reflexively are against it, because Obama initiated it. But go back a decade and more and you will see NDA and Quadrennial Review writings that talk about the Asian pivot long before Obama came into office.

You can’t debate squat. You have yet to win a point in this, nor refute with fact a single point I brought up.

Everyone is invited to go back over our respective posts and see that for themselves.

As for me, Bedtime for Bonzo. you are welcome to keep describing your imaginary world where our foreign policy that never failed has now failed and yet is no different.

Pretty bold words for a guy that started off and continues to rely upon weak straw-man arguments about imaginary US forces in Ukraine, to be follow on with imaginary boots on the ground arguments that don’t exist in the WH or Congress.

+1 to your post #3.

Ukraine is a European problem and the Germans are 75% against going to war over the Ukraine.

The useful idiots will support you from the depths of AlexJones, RonPaul, George Nory, Neville Chamberlain and other peace in out time’rs.

People who know history, have perspective on Russia’s actions and how they relate to Nazi Germany’s actions pre WWII. People who understand Reagan’s serious Cold War on the USSR, will support my points.

You simply can’t see the forest through the trees. You’ve allowed Obama to defeat you, so your futility has taken you down the path of conspiracy, isolationism and supporting a dredge like Putin.

You can have the fruit n nuts of appeasement and isolationism, I’ll stand behind Reagan and conservatism.

You stand in an imaginary world filled with cheshire conservatism, Alice and the mad hatter. The march hare may have well written your history book but I’ll go with the one the people out here in reality understand.

Best of luck to you and tell the Red Queen I said hi.

OK, one for the road.

When one guy says “Go read our posts and compare for yourselves” and the other guy says anyone refusing to agree with me is an Alex Jones truther type...well...good luck winning converts to the brilliance of your position.

LOL, in case you didn’t realize, a straw man is when you selectively pick or invent an easy argument to knock down, thus ignoring the more substantive points of your foe.

Congratulations. Perhaps we can go through more examples of fallacious reasoning, once you’ve had some rest.

To: rbmillerjr

Why? you have been using ‘fallacious reasoning’ since we began. Perhaps once you’ve had some rest we can delve into your abuse of category error. Because I gotta say, I have rarely seen arguments defined as incorrectly as you have while expecting a solution.

You think that a vastly altered and applied foreign policy is the same as it ever was. You think that a group of incompetents in the Dems and GOP alike are executing the same policy. You think that sending food to one side of a military conflict can’t or won’t result in a hostile reaction by the other.

It’s all there in your posts. It’s your words. All of this crap is provably false with even a cursory skim through FR and an even less cursory cruise through the common sense most of us have. And when pointed out, you holler ‘strawman!’.

Nope. Again, as I said, people are free to read our posts and our points, then decide which of us belongs on the Alex Jones website. You can invoke Reagan till Obama’s white half checks it’s privilege for all I care. Wrong is wrong. Reagan wasn’t. the founders who warned us against foreign entanglements exactly like this were not wrong. You are.

You think you know better than the founders? good luck selling anyone on that one as well.

Not my problem.

For some mysterious reason known only to yourself, you are completely ignoring as though it made no difference, or wasn’t a fact, that we are in the middle of a several year long takeover of the USA by an illegitimate cabal of communist/moslem or moslem loving/faggot loving/racist criminals.

Odd that it means nothing to you, but ooooh we have to lash out at the eeeeeeevil Ruskis to save the world.

How about saving our country from communist tyranny first?

We should stop all Russian imports to the U.S.A. immediately. We don't need any useless, commie/fascist junk--not even the kind that goes "bang."

“Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the Century. As for the Russian nation, it became a genuine drama. Tens of millions of our co-citizens and compatriots found themselves outside Russian territory. Moreover, the epidemic of disintegration infected Russia itself” (Vladimir Putin, Annual Address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, April 25, 2005).

North Korea Tests 'Super-EMP' Nuke

"North Korea’s nuclear tests have been dismissed as failures by some analysts because of their low explosive yield. But Dr. Pry believes they bore the “signature” of the Russian-designed “super-EMP” weapon, capable of emitting more gamma radiation than a 25-megaton nuclear weapon. "
