Just to remind folks that subway is an American company.
There's no need for the UK to endorse this, either. Both Halal and Kosher slaughter practices were fine for pre-industrial societies but we've moved on in the West. The vast majority of Jews in the West don't keep kosher with their meat so this really isn't an issue with them.
The Muslims, however, want to impose halal dietary strictures on everyone else as a first step in implementing dhimmitude on non-Muslims. They're not eating at Subway right now and this is not about them eating at Subway. It's about making everyone who eats at Subway have to submit to a Muslim rule.
Which then makes it easier to get people to submit to another Muslim rule. And that's the point.
Not even the most militant of Orthodox Jews play this kind of thing.
This is asymmetric Islamic jihad.
Where is the threats and coercion. Subway would be idiotic not to offer Halal food since the location of the store is where Muslims live. What do you want Subway to do? Close down? Go bankrupt? I wonder if you are conservative SOMETIMES.
If my local Subway removed ham and bacon, I would stop going there.

Well, you disagree with Peter and are closer to Paul.
That said, it’s an “admonition,” not a “command” from my read and it was certainly a rather subtle matter of reasonable dispute 2000 years ago, as well.
Well as a rancher with over 2,000 head who has been to many a slaughterhouse, I will tell you that kosher-slaughtered animals (if done at a reputable facility — and yes, there are crappy ones) are treated and put down a lot better than at a typical slaughter house.
We make all of this progress towards humane slaughter, and Islam takes us back a century or more.
And the left, who drives anti-cruelty, panders to Islam--I guess they believe Muslims to be "noble savages".
Mark Steyn is right. Islam trumps everything. It trumps race, it trumps gender, it trumps sexuality, it trumps secularism, and it trumps animal rights.
