RE: “The notion that once one served one’s sentence, one had “paid one’s debt to society” was one of the boundary markers our ancestors put in place.”

That’s the thing - some times that debt paid was just a pittance.

So should a Level 3 sex offender, who ‘paid his dept’ be allowed to work anywhere?

Keep in mind:
* ‘Anywhere’ includes schools and day cares
* Level 3 is defined as “high risk of repeat offense and a threat to public safety exists”

Sorry, no business should be forced to hire someone who may put their staff, their ‘customers’ (or students) or assets at risk.

Archdiocesan leader pleased with child protection measures in ‘ban the box’ bill
The Archdiocese of Baltimore supported the aims of the bill as a matter of social justice, but pushed for some exemptions for employers hiring staff who would have contact with children or vulnerable adults. D’Alessandro testified before the council in February. The bill was amended to reflect the archdiocese’s concern.
