It would need the consent of Boehner to do this. Either the House or Senate has the power to arrest for contempt and other matters. See the trial of Sam Houston in the House for a physical attack on a sitting Congressman. There is a jail in the Capitol, but no person may be held absent a vote of the entire body and then only as long as the Congressional Session. She would be released on 12/31.

The only limitation is that confinement by the House must end when the term of House members ends. However, it could be renewed by the subsequent Congress.

The incoming House is all but certain to remain in Republican hands, adding at least two additional years to Lerner's confinement. Actually, I don't see her holding out that long. I think she'd start singing within days of being locked up.

A short stay in the Capital Jail could be made to feel like a lifetime for an Elite Washington Liberal on a M.R.E. Meal plan...

Add some speakers with Rush in the Afternoons & Fox in the evenings...& She's "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" in a heartbeat!

Alas, that would be Cruel & Unusual Punishment for our Elites...
