Obama Signs Bill into Law – Says He will Treat it only as “Advisory”

On Friday, Barack Obama signed into law S2195, legislation introduced by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), which would prevent diplomats to the United Nations who have "been found to have been engaged in espionage activities or a terrorist activity." During the signing of the law, Obama said he would treat the law only as "advisory."

"Acts of espionage and terrorism against the United States and our allies are unquestionably problems of the utmost gravity, and I share the Congress's concern that individuals who have engaged in such activity may use the cover of diplomacy to gain access to our nation," Obama said.

"Nevertheless, as President [George H.W.] Bush also observed, 'curtailing by statute my constitutional discretion to receive or reject ambassadors is neither a permissible nor a practical solution,'" he continued. "I shall, therefore, continue to treat section 407, as originally enacted and as amended by S. 2195, as advisory in circumstances in which it would interfere with the exercise of this discretion."

Another impeachable offense, which Congress will ignore like the other offenses by Traitorobama.

In other words, this law is no different than all the rest.

What if congress decided the constitutional prohibition against Bills of Attainder was only advisory and passed one on Obama?

So, I guess if it comes out of Congress, to Obama, it isn’t a law.

Only his edicts are laws.

I keep looking for the “semi-satire” tag on these pieces, but am horrified that I can’t find one.

I miss the rule of law. I hope I won’t become the crazy grandpa telling implausible stories about what it was like to live under the rule of law. I hope we will instead restore the rule of law. The correct answers were to veto the bill or to sign and follow the law, “compromise” where the law isn’t taken seriously is not a lawful option.

Advisory until he can write an EO to make it more harsh. Or just declare it more harsh.

Actually (I am sad to say) obama is right on this one. The power to approve/disapprove foreign diplomats is held by the office of the President.

If impeached, I'd guess that Ø wouldn't take it personally. He would take it as "advisory".

Another bird finger no one will do anything about.

What the heck, they haven't passed a budget since he's been there why would he bother with details like laws the Legislative Branch passes? You know, "Let's see Congress enforce it".

This isn't like Jackson ignoring the Supreme Court, this is turning our country into a nation ruled on by the whims of one man, men not a nation of laws. The democrat fascist party would have articles of impeachment against a Republican who did this by the end of the day. They'd drop everything else in a heartbeat and the media would be going nuts 24/7

We only obey laws we see fit to obey. So, with that in mind laws against robbing banks are now an advisory.

President Obama treats all the laws as "advisory," especially the Constitution. Many of us do not understand how he gets away with it! I guess that Harry Reid is a big help to the Obama Administration.

Odumbo.........”Says He will Treat it only as “Advisory”.

Yet another “pick and choose” law he will obey.

Well here’s an “advisory” to Congress, “You had BETTER start that impeachment process or YOU will be gone”.

Just another law to be ignored. It matters not whether the Current Occupant has personally signed the bill or not, he shall always choose to treat the entire existing body of law, up to and including the Constitution, as “advisory” in nature.

“Constitutional scholar”, my aching, er, foot, the only reason The Won EVER studied the Constitution was because he was looking for loopholes.

And he couldn’t even find them by himself. Had to call in Eric Holder and Valerie Jarrett to chisel out some damage to the letter of the law, and CLAIM it was a loophole.
