could you elaborate on this? Is the point that the production method used in fracking is less CO2 producing than other production methods?

I think it’s that fracking drops the price of oil and NatGas enough that it becomes easier to produce electricity for all those folks heating their huts, so they don’t need to burn low-energy-density materials that produce huge amounts of combustion byproducts.
