A crop of Republican officials who wanted to oust former Illinois GOP Chairman Pat Brady for his statements supporting same-sex marriage have been replaced in their party positions.
Illinois Republicans across the state held elections for all 18 state central committee member posts this week, replacing six of the seven officials who signed on to a letter last year to hold a vote on removing Brady as chairman. The seventh person to sign the letter, Mark Shaw of the 10th Congressional District, was re-elected to a four-year term.
Brady began making public statements in January 2013 in support of same-sex marriage, contrary to the partys platform that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Committee members in favor of his removal said he not only violated the platform, but commented without notifying them first.
Brady, in turn, described the party as on wrong side of history.

Brady, in turn, described the party as on wrong side of history.
History will show that Illinois Republicans have been on the wrong side for many years.
“Brady, in turn, described the party as on wrong side of history.
Apparently Brady is on the wrong side of more than just history.
Will someone please explain to these abortion loving, same sex marriage loving republicans one thing? Why should we vote for them when we can vote for a democrat?
Illinois GOP have been partners with the Chicago Machine for two decades.
There is no dissent from the party line in Illinois. Truly a soviet.
RINOs purging social conservatives, nothing new there. They can do that in the corrupt blue state of Illinois but we need to do the opposite in most of the rest of the Republic—let’s rid the GOP of as many of the RINOs as possible, from the precinct level on up. We need to do this for our very survival—they are waging war on us.
Rinos and libertarians.
There is much federal law involving gay marriage (military, federal employment, immigration, it is one reason that we need a president that opposes it at the federal level (that opposes it period), not to mention when choosing judges and the Supreme Court.
Rand Paul doesnt oppose it:
I think that the Republican Party, in order to get bigger, will have to agree to disagree on social issues, Paul advised. The Republican Party is not going to give up on having quite a few people who do believe in traditional marriage. But the Republican Party also has to find a place for young people and others who dont want to be festooned by those issues.
IL has been lost for a long time; too much influence from Chicago - even the Republicans are about useless.
How far Republicans in Illinois have fallen from the days of Abraham Lincoln!!
Yhis is an inside job. Those voting were Republican functionaries in those districts. Once upon a time the Illinois GOP had closed primaries. Today that is not the case. Because it’s not a closed primary hanky-panky can result.
In areas outside of Cook County being a GOP precinct committeeman is an elected party office. In Cook county and Chicago proper they’re appointed by the ward or township committeeman but both are also elected during a regularly scheduled Republican primary.
Now those committeemen in turn are the delegates of that district to their caucus. Delegates not the general public vote at the party district caucuses to elect their district chair. NBD
...young people and others who dont want to be festooned by those issues.

How is one festooned by such issues? Such an odd choice of words. Perhaps some part of his brain that promotes decency would not let him choose a word such as “restrained”.
Brady must be on the wrong side of a sphincter.
