I used to watch Meet the Press, The Week with or without David Brinkley and Fox News Sunday regularly. Now I still record them, but rarely make the time to watch them so I only keep a couple weeks back.

The Internet made the T.V. news superfluous.
That's not a bad thing as I thought that many of those talking heads were the most POMPOUS old wind-suckers ever to blow hard on the boobus-toobus.

Even Tim Russert had his Leftist bias, but it was nowhere close to the Sunday morning sycophants on TV now. I said something to a Leftist (former) friend about Russert’s bias and she said ‘ he's not biased’. I told her she didn't see it because she agreed with his bias. I haven't watched the Sunday morning shows in years.

You can go on youtube and see old political shows -- even old interviews with Mike Wallace -- and you can see thoughtful, insightful, balanced
discussions. Each side felt that the other side had something to offer, so they
listened, and then they
responded.
Almost no one does that anymore. It's all gamesmanship -- shouting down the other person, putting words in their mouths, making up lies, hammering home one's own talking point and pretending that a question is being asked or an answer expected.
Low quality drivel. We are a nation which, in large degree, cannot really think about politics.

Ping. We have discussed this many times on the Sunday thread for which I thank you.

Gregory spoke of adding on layers in the form of big conversations about religion, foreign events, and societal trends. The core of the show has always been your Washington fix, were a Washington-based program. But I do think were adding on layers, changing the experience, making it more interesting, he said, adding that the American people want more than just Republicans and Democrats.
Sounds like Gregory wants to do a light entertainment type show... They should give him one - maybe at seven o'clock - and hire a real news person for 'Meet the Press"...

So now that NBCs David Gregory is on suicide watch the Sunday shows are irrelevant. Got it.

These shows are a wasteland. The Dems now use entertainment and comedy shows to reach their LIVs. Conservatives are mostly turning to the Internet.

To try and spice-up his lousy ratings, David Gregory is adding an animal segment to Meet the Press. Tune in this Sunday to Meet the Elephants.

DAVID BROOKS: And, let’s face it, Obama, whether deservedly or not, does have a — I’ll say it crudely — but a manhood problem in the Middle East: Is he tough enough to stand up to somebody like Assad, somebody like Putin? I think a lot of the rap is unfair. But certainly in the Middle East, there’s an assumption he’s not tough.
Was that off the wall coming from a liberal MSM or Face the Nation lapdog rino?

I never watch them, can’t bear it, if anything interesting happens it will show up here on FR, and that doesn’t happen as often as I would expect, their just empty suits and chairs as far as I’m concerned.

I gave up on the Sunday shows a long time ago. Around the mid-1990s. Just couldn’t stomach the 100% liberal idiocy. By the early-2000s, I’d completely tuned out on all the non-Fox cable-news channels. Around 2010, I gave up on FoxNews, when it became the Rove/Romney network.
Now I don’t really watch much of anything anymore. Rarely even listen to talk-radio, and beyond FR, I don’t even bother much with other internet sites. Funny, because I used to be such a news/politics junkie, for several decades, going back to the Reagan era. But 2010-2012 really killed all that. The combination of the the GOP-E pushing Romney along with its backstabbing of Palin and the tea-party just killed my decades-long interests in news and politics, along with the media that serves it up.

The very last Sunday morning show I watched was See-BS' "Face the Nation" where Ollie North was being viciously savaged with lies by Bob "The Stiff" Schieffer.
It made my blood boil.
At the end of his performance Schieffer offered his hand, but to Ollie's credit Schieffer got snubbed.
