The big thing is "who will be the successor?"

The Saudi kingship does not go to the current king's eldest son like the Brit monarchy. It rotates among the royal family. The listed heir-apparent, Salman, has Alzheimers.

It could be that somebody who sees himself as a potential successor wants to stir the pot.

Since the death of Ibn Saud in 1953, the crown has always gone to one of his sons. Therefore you can be certain Abdullah’s successor will be a brother or half-brother. I don’t expect that to change until the last son of Ibn Saud dies.
