Pipeline delay gives boost to Obama's political base

The latest delay to a final decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline will reinforce a White House strategy to energize President Barack Obama's liberal-leaning base before fall elections in which Democrats risk losing control of the U.S. Senate.

Environmentalists, worried about the project's effect on climate change, have put enormous pressure on the president to reject the pipeline from Canada's oil sands, staging demonstrations outside the White House and protests in states where he travels.

A decision to approve it now could have prompted that vocal group, which was instrumental in electing Obama in 2008 and 2012, to sit out the November 4 congressional elections.

I truly believe they would block any new form of clean energy based on oil or coal just as they have blocked anything that says nuclear for decades. It’s emotion, not reason, that guides them.

It's like that South Park episodes where greenies moved back to the countryside and gave animals equal rights with humans.

And Stan and Kyle saw one of their mutant offspring.

Why has it taken five years to study this damn project?

We won World War II in less time than it’s taking Obama to allegedly study this project, in order to decide whether to go ahead with it.

I’m all for study of proposals before they go forward, but, why so many delays? We’ve built numerous pipelines in the past. We know the environmental impacts. We know how to build them. We know there are trade-offs and political issues with the enviro-extremists. I think Obama and his boys have all the information they need to make a damn decision.

Obama doesn’t seem eager to make executive decisions, unless such decisions are appeasing the liberals in some way.

South Park has run that greenie thinking you point to, and gotten some very good episodes out of it.

You failed to mention that there was a lot of horse manure to be disposed of, but come to think of it, envirowhackos are not adverse to spreading manure, with or without the source animal.

At the point where an undocumented immigrant passed himself off as qualified to take office.

Indeed!

Bottom line for the greenies has to be, there are far too many humans on the planet. It's the only conclusion which their position logically leads to.

You have to think like they do. They don’t plan on all of us being around to buy electric cars. They plan on getting rid of as many people as necessary to save the planet.

How does it help the environment to have the oil transported in a train rather than a pipeline?

It boosts Buffets bottom line.
